To center page text from top to bottom, open Page Setup > Layout, set Vertical alignment to Center, then choose where the setting applies. Text inside a shape or text box has its own alignment controls.
Center a paragraph horizontally
Horizontal centering positions a paragraph between the left and right margins. It affects the paragraph, which may contain several lines; it does not move the paragraph to the vertical center of the page.

Center text vertically on a page
Vertical alignment positions text up or down within the space between the page’s top and bottom margins. This is often the right setting for a title page or a page with a short heading.

- Open the Page Setup dialog. In the Layout or Page Layout tab, select the dialog launcher in the Page Setup group.

- Select OK.
Microsoft describes vertical alignment as positioning text within a defined document space, for example placing a title on a section-break page. It is separate from horizontal paragraph alignment.
Center text inside a text box or shape
A text box or shape is its own layout area, so changing page-level vertical alignment will not center its contents inside the object.

Which Word version should you use?
Microsoft’s documented page-level vertical-alignment procedure is for full desktop Word. Microsoft’s screen-reader guidance says to use the desktop version for this page setting. The mobile app provides horizontal alignment through its formatting controls; the sources do not establish that the desktop Page Setup route is available in Word for the web or mobile.
