How to Capture Website Screenshots in Multiple Languages with LambdaTest

LambdaTest captures what a page renders; it does not select or translate the language. Prepare each localized URL or session, then capture and label each result consistently.

LambdaTest’s screenshot API can capture a page in different browser and operating-system configurations, but the documented request does not include a language or locale switch. To capture multiple languages, first make each language render through a locale-specific URL or your site’s own session or preference settings, then submit a separate screenshot test for each rendered version. The screenshots show what the page serves; LambdaTest does not translate it for you.

How the multilingual capture workflow works

Think of the job as two separate steps: your website selects and renders the language, and LambdaTest captures that rendered page. A French path such as /fr/ is one possible site-specific approach; a session or cookie preference is another. Neither is a documented LambdaTest locale feature. Before automating captures, open each target page and confirm it visibly displays the expected language.

  1. Prepare each localized page. Identify the route or site-controlled state that selects the language. Use the resulting URL or configure the required state for your site. Confirm the page content is in the intended language before capture.
  2. Choose a consistent browser matrix. Select the OS, browser, browser version, and resolution you need. Use the same matrix for every language if you plan to compare layouts.
  3. Submit a screenshot test for each variant. Authenticate and provide the target URL and browser/OS configuration. The documented request also has resolution, defer_time, and optional tunnel, identifier, and callback fields. Check the current vendor documentation and your account for available combinations and options. TestMu AI’s Automated Screenshot API guide and Start Screenshot Test schema provide the request details.
  4. Wait for dynamic content when needed. Set defer_time to allow your page time to settle. The documentation does not prescribe a universal delay; choose one appropriate to your application and verify the captured result.
  5. Fetch the result and track its locale. Use the returned test ID to fetch details. The example result includes OS, browser, browser version, status, screenshot and thumbnail URLs, activity ID, and resolution. Keep the locale in your own filenames or tracking records; it is not included in the cited result example. See Fetch specified screenshot details.

Submitting a test and retrieving its screenshots

The API reference names the operation “Start Screenshot Test.” Its documented request uses authentication and a configuration of browser/OS combinations. Because the exact current options can depend on the live documentation and account, use the current schema as the authority rather than copying old browser versions or resolutions from an example.

At a high level, submit the target localized URL with the required credentials and configuration, retain the returned test ID, then call the specified-screenshot-details operation with that ID. The resulting metadata helps identify which browser and resolution produced each screenshot. Store the locale separately, for example in a job record or filename such as fr-FR_chrome_1440x900; that naming convention is yours, not an API field.

#1 Best Overall

The official materials establish the request fields and result shape, but do not establish a universal account limit, current pricing, or fixed plan entitlement. Check your live account and documentation for those details. Keep API credentials in a protected environment rather than committing them to public source code.

Make language comparisons useful

Capture every locale with the same browser, OS, browser version, and viewport. Otherwise, a difference in wrapping or clipping may come from the environment rather than the translation. Review each output for text wrapping, missing glyphs, overflow, clipped controls, and layout changes caused by longer translated strings. These are practical review checks, not a claim that LambdaTest automatically evaluates translation quality.

If a page is private or on staging, determine whether the optional tunnel settings in the request fit your setup. A capture delay can help with pages whose localized content loads dynamically, but it does not make a wrong locale state correct: verify the rendered language at the URL or session level first.

Common problems and fixes

  • The screenshot is in the default language. The request’s documented fields do not provide a language switch. Use the correct localized URL or arrange the site’s own session or preference state, then verify the page before capture.
  • The result is missing or not ready. Retain the test ID from submission and use the documented fetch-details operation. Check the returned status and current API guidance before treating an incomplete result as a finished capture.
  • Localized text or images are absent. The page may need more time to load dynamic content. Adjust defer_time for the page and inspect the result; no single delay is guaranteed to fit every site.
  • A request is rejected. Authentication is required. Check the credentials and request against the current schema, and do not expose secrets in client-side or public code.
  • Language screenshots are difficult to compare. Standardize the browser/OS/version/resolution matrix and label each output with the locale in your own tracking.
  • A browser or resolution from an old example is unavailable. Availability can change. Consult the current API documentation and account options instead of assuming an older example remains supported.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API and an MCP server. It does not replace your site’s locale selection: send a locale-specific URL or otherwise ensure the site renders the language you want.

For example, request a French page by changing the URL to your site’s localized route:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/fr/ -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.
