Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf Hindi text looks wrong in a Screenshotlayer image, first check the page’s font coverage and whether the screenshot renderer can load the font stylesheet and font file. Then test capture timing and Screenshotlayer’s advertised CSS and delay options. Those options are worth testing, but its public product page does not confirm that a delay waits for fonts to finish loading or that injected CSS can guarantee a particular Devanagari font.
Why Hindi text can look different in a screenshot
A screenshot records what the rendering browser displays at capture time. If the requested webfont cannot be retrieved, or its glyph set does not cover the Hindi characters on the page, the browser may render those characters with a fallback font. Cloudflare describes this fallback behavior for its managed Chromium service; it is a general explanation of browser font rendering, not evidence about Screenshotlayer’s internal renderer. Look for missing-glyph boxes, Latin-looking fallback, changed spacing or positioning, or an alternate typeface across the page. Hindi vowel signs and conjuncts are useful test cases because they make shaping and glyph-coverage problems easier to spot.
Check the page’s font before changing capture settings
Verify family, coverage, weight and style
Inspect the live page’s computed font family and the network requests for its stylesheet and font files. Confirm that the intended face covers the Devanagari characters present on the page and that the requested weight and style are actually provided. Google Fonts documents selecting families, weights and styles, as well as script subset handling; it does not certify any particular Hindi font choice for your page. Google Fonts documentation

Check that the renderer can fetch the font
Review failed stylesheet and font requests, cross-origin restrictions, content security rules, and whether the page’s CSS requests a different family or weight than expected. A font that works in your local browser may still fail in a hosted capture if the renderer cannot access the same resources.
Test Screenshotlayer’s available controls
Screenshotlayer says its rendering engine supports webfonts and advertises custom CSS supplied through a stylesheet URL, along with a configurable capture delay. These are vendor-stated capabilities, not a guarantee that every font request will work. The public product page does not establish a font-ready wait condition or verify that a particular CSS injection will fix Hindi text. Screenshotlayer product page

- Capture the exact deployed URL and compare the image with the live page using the same Hindi passage.
- If you use Screenshotlayer’s CSS stylesheet URL option, test only syntax and behavior described in its current documentation or confirmed by the vendor. Do not assume it supports a particular
@font-facepattern without confirmation. - Vary the advertised capture delay and compare the resulting images. A delay may give requests more time, but do not treat it as proof that the font has finished loading.
- Repeat the capture at the actual viewport, language variant and settings you plan to use. A local preview does not establish that a hosted renderer loads the same font.
Screenshotlayer’s API documentation is available at https://screenshotlayer.com/documentation; consult its current, accessible instructions for request parameters rather than guessing a CSS or font-readiness option.
Choose between the site’s font setup and capture-time changes
| Approach | What it can control | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Use the website’s production font setup | Preserves the page’s intended design and typography. | Devanagari coverage, correct weight and style, and successful font retrieval by the capture renderer. |
| Supply capture-time CSS or a font specifically for capture | May provide more control over family, weight and style if the service documents the mechanism. | Supported syntax, font accessibility, and whether there is a documented way to wait for the font to load. Screenshotlayer’s public page mentions a stylesheet URL and delay but does not confirm font injection or font readiness. |
Cloudflare documents a custom-font pattern for its own Browser Run service: provide an @font-face rule pointing to an external CDN font file or embedded font data, then apply that family in CSS. This is a Cloudflare-specific example, not a Screenshotlayer parameter or promise. Cloudflare Browser Run custom-font documentation

Troubleshooting a Hindi website screenshot font problem
- Hindi appears as boxes: Check whether the loaded font contains the required Devanagari glyphs, then confirm the font request succeeds in the capture context.
- Hindi appears in a different face: Compare the page’s computed font family with the requested and loaded font files; verify that the needed weight and style exist.
- The live page is correct but the screenshot is not: Check failed font or stylesheet requests and access restrictions, then test the exact deployed URL and capture settings.
- A longer delay changes nothing: A delay is not documented as a font-ready condition. Investigate font coverage and retrieval instead of assuming that more waiting will fix them.
- CSS injection does not change the result: Confirm the stylesheet URL and syntax against current Screenshotlayer documentation or vendor support; the public feature description does not establish a font-specific injection recipe.

If you want another screenshot API to try, ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to consider: it removes cookie banners, popups and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a lower-priced paid plan starting at $5 for 3,000 shots.
One GET request returns an image or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Its response identifies page verdict and billing status in headers. Bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are not billed, and an MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
