If you need an official invoice or structured return data, use the relevant download inside the GST portal instead.
Capture an accessible GST webpage as a PDF
ScreenshotOne’s API accepts a URL and supports PDF output. For an accessible page, request PDF format and use screen rendering with backgrounds enabled. One-page fitting keeps the rendering on a single page, but can shrink a long page enough to make text difficult to read.

- Choose the page. Identify the specific public page or portal view you want to preserve. Do not assume a remote renderer can see a view available only after you sign in to the GST portal.
- Build the PDF request. Set
format=pdf,media_type=screen,pdf_print_background=true, andpdf_fit_one_page=true. See ScreenshotOne’s Screenshot Options for the supported parameters. - Review the result. Check that the content is complete, text is legible, and relevant backgrounds or visual elements appear. Compare a one-page result with a normally paginated PDF if the page is long.
ScreenshotOne’s documentation describes general URL-to-PDF rendering, not a GST-specific preset or a demonstrated capture of an authenticated GST session. Do not treat the API as a way to sign in to a taxpayer account or retrieve private returns based on this documentation.

Choose one-page fitting or normal pagination
pdf_fit_one_page=true attempts to fit the website onto one PDF page. This can be useful for a compact visual record, but the page may be reduced substantially. If a readable document matters more than a single continuous page, try the PDF without one-page fitting and inspect the pagination. ScreenshotOne also documents paper format, landscape orientation, and margins; choose them according to the content and intended use.

PDF rendering can vary with page behavior and settings. For a long or dynamic page, ScreenshotOne’s full-page screenshots guide suggests trying a longer delay, such as 5–10 seconds, and notes that higher-quality rendering can reduce performance. It also cautions that reliable full-page capture can be challenging on some sites. This is general guidance, not a verified GST portal test.
Use the GST portal’s native download for official records
A PDF rendered from a webpage is a visual capture. It is not necessarily an official tax document or a structured data export. When you need an e-Invoice document or return data, use the portal’s own download path where available.

e-Invoice downloads
GSTN’s e-Invoice download help describes a PDF download for a single active IRN after signing in to the e-Invoice portal with GST portal credentials. For period-level bulk downloads, it describes signed JSON; IRN lists can be downloaded as Excel. The help says e-Invoice JSON is available for six months from IRN generation and that files created for period or list downloads remain in Download History for two days. Portal workflows and eligibility can change, so confirm the current UI and your access before relying on those details.

The GST Portal’s GSTR-1 guide describes an Excel download for auto-populated e-Invoice details. Generation time depends on the number of records; when there are more than 500, processing may continue for later retrieval from E-Invoice Download History. This native spreadsheet is a better fit than a visual screenshot when you need invoice data to review or process.

Protect credentials and troubleshoot capture problems
- The PDF shows a sign-in page or omits private content: The reviewed ScreenshotOne documentation does not verify interoperability with an authenticated GST session. Do not send a GST password or session token to a capture service unless the access method is independently verified and authorized. Use the portal’s native download for private tax records.
- The page looks incomplete: Dynamic content may not have finished loading. Try a longer delay, inspect the PDF, and remember that full-page rendering is not reliable for every site.
- The text is too small: One-page fitting may have compressed the page. Try normal pagination, a different paper format, landscape orientation, or adjusted margins.
- Backgrounds are missing: Confirm that screen media and PDF print backgrounds are enabled in the request.
- You are sending API credentials: Use HTTPS. ScreenshotOne’s Getting Started documentation warns that HTTP does not encrypt API keys, authorization headers, or cookies in transit. Keep credentials out of public or shared request URLs.
