Use Chrome DevTools’ Device Toolbar to set a 1440-pixel-wide responsive viewport, select Desktop rendering, then capture either the visible viewport or the full page. The 1440 value is a CSS-pixel viewport width—not a requirement for a 1440p monitor, and not a guarantee that the saved image file will be exactly 1440 pixels wide.
Set Chrome to a 1440-pixel desktop viewport
- Open the Google results page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools, then turn on the Device Toolbar. In Responsive mode, enter 1440 as the width. Chrome’s preset list also labels its 1440-pixel option “Laptop L.” You can enter a height as well if the capture needs a particular viewport height.
- Set Device Type to Desktop. This selects desktop rendering rather than mobile rendering and touch events.
- Return to the results page and capture the image using the appropriate screenshot command below.

Choose a viewport or full-page capture

In DevTools, open More options and choose Capture screenshot for the viewport image. To include the entire page, select Capture a full size screenshot from the same menu. These are Chrome’s documented labels and behaviors.

The width entered in Responsive mode is the browser viewport width in CSS pixels. It is not the monitor’s physical resolution. Chrome defines device pixel ratio (DPR) as the relationship between physical screen pixels and logical CSS pixels, so DPR can affect the relationship between the configured viewport and the pixels in the saved file. If the deliverable requires a precise image-file width, inspect the exported image rather than assuming it is exactly 1440 physical pixels wide.

Device Mode simulates aspects of a device; Chrome notes that it does not run the page on a separate physical device. A 1440p monitor is not required to set a 1440 CSS-pixel viewport.
Make a Google results capture easier to interpret
A 1440-pixel viewport controls the browser’s layout width, but it does not freeze Google’s results or ensure different people will see the same SERP. Results can vary over time and with search context. For a report or comparison, record the exact query and capture time; include relevant context such as language or location when it matters. Treat these as reporting details, not as reproducibility settings guaranteed by Chrome DevTools.
