Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Capture the screen state that shows the bug, keep enough surrounding interface to identify where it happened, and send the image with concise reproduction steps. Use a short screen recording instead when the problem depends on a sequence of actions. Before sharing, check the file for sensitive information and make sure the recipient can access it.
What to include in a useful bug report
- Reproduction steps: List the actions that led to the problem in order. Include relevant setup or account state without exposing secrets.
- Expected and actual results: State what you expected to happen and what happened instead. The written report should make sense even if someone cannot view the image.
- Visual evidence: Capture the error or incorrect state with enough nearby interface context for the team to locate the affected feature. Crop excess empty space, but do not crop away useful context.
- Annotation, if needed: Use a restrained arrow, highlight, or short note to direct attention. Keep annotations clear of the error message and relevant controls.
- Accessible description: When adding the image to documentation or an issue that may be read with assistive technology, provide alt text. GitHub’s screenshot guidance recommends context, complete written instructions, adequate contrast, and alt text.
Before attaching or uploading the capture, inspect it for unrelated personal, account, or confidential information. Crop or obscure what should not be shared. If a tool creates a share link, check its audience and access settings before sending it.

Choose a screenshot or a recording
| Evidence | Use it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshot | The bug is visible in one state, such as a wrong label, layout, or error message. | Easy to scan, but it does not show the actions that led to the state. |
| Screen recording | The bug depends on timing, movement, or a sequence of interactions. | Shows the sequence, but may include more information than the team needs; review it before sharing. |
These are practical distinctions, not results of a comparative user study. A still is usually enough when one state demonstrates the issue; record a short clip when the sequence itself matters.
Capture the bug on your device
Android
Open the affected screen and press Power + Volume Down. If that shortcut does not work, check the power menu for a Screenshot option or consult the device manufacturer’s instructions, since controls can vary by device and Android version. Find, edit, and share the capture in Photos or the device’s gallery. Android 12 and later support scrolling screenshots on most screens that allow scrolling. For a sequence, Android also provides screen recording through Quick Settings, with options for audio and showing touches. See Google’s Android screenshot and recording instructions.

iPhone and iPad
Apple’s capture guide covers screenshots on iPhone and iPad, including how to capture the screen and use the resulting image. Follow the instructions for your device and version in Apple’s screenshot guide. On Mac, the same guide explains capturing the full screen, a window, or a selected portion, choosing where to save it, and using the floating thumbnail to mark up or share the result.
Windows
Windows Snipping Tool supports rectangle, freeform, and window captures for still images, as well as a video mode. The cited Microsoft page documents launching the tool rather than providing a version-independent click-by-click workflow, so check the current interface on your Windows version. See Microsoft’s Snipping Tool launch documentation.

Capture permissions and privacy
On Apple platforms, screen recording requires permission. Apple’s ScreenCaptureKit documentation recommends requesting permission before capture and using the system content-sharing picker so people can select the content source: ScreenCaptureKit documentation. Ask for only the capture access needed for the report, and let the person choose what to share where the platform provides that flow.
- Close or hide unrelated account details before capture where possible.
- Check the entire image or recording, including browser tabs and notifications, before attaching it.
- Obscure credentials, personal data, or confidential material that is not needed to reproduce the bug.
- Use the team’s approved issue tracker or feedback workflow, and confirm sharing permissions for any generated link.
Attach the evidence so the team can use it
Attach the screenshot or recording to the issue, then put reproduction steps and expected-versus-actual behavior in the report text. Do not make an annotation the only place where essential information appears. If the image is for documentation or an issue with an accessibility audience, add concise alt text describing the relevant state rather than merely saying “screenshot.”
