To capture only a website at a controlled 1× scale, use Chrome DevTools on a computer: choose a mobile viewport, set the device scale factor to 1, then capture the visible viewport or the full page. These workflows produce different results, so pick the one that matches what you need.
Choose the right screenshot method

Take a screenshot directly on Android
- Open the website in your Android browser and position the page content you want to capture.
- Use the screenshot control available on your phone. The exact button combination or menu varies by manufacturer and OS version, so use your device’s own screenshot control rather than assuming one sequence works on every handset.
- If your phone offers a scrolling screenshot, use it to capture more content and check the result for repeated or missing sections.
This is the simplest approach when a record of the displayed screen is enough. It captures the device screen, not a clean webpage-only image, and does not set a 1× website capture scale.

Capture a website at 1× with Chrome DevTools
Chrome DevTools device mode lets you choose or specify a mobile viewport for an emulated page. Set or verify the device scale factor as 1 in the capture setup; do not infer the scale from how sharp the image looks. Viewport dimensions and device pixel ratio are separate considerations. - Select a device preset or enter the mobile viewport dimensions you want.
- Set or verify the device scale factor is 1 in the device emulation or capture configuration.
- Open DevTools’ More options menu and choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport, or choose Capture full size screenshot when you need content outside the viewport. Chrome documents these as distinct captures; see Capture screenshots with Chrome DevTools.
- Inspect the saved image’s dimensions and content. Confirm that it contains the intended viewport or full page and that the capture configuration used a factor of 1.
A 1× device scale factor describes the capture workflow’s scale setting. It does not mean CSS pixels always equal physical pixels on every Android screen: Android viewport behavior and display density affect browser scaling. See Android’s guidance on supporting different screens in web apps.

Use a real Android phone when rendering matters
Device mode is an emulation workflow. If you need to inspect the site as it is running in a real Android browser, connect the phone and use Chrome’s remote debugging workflow to inspect its live tab from desktop DevTools. Follow Chrome’s remote debugging instructions. A USB cable is optional for this workflow and must support data transfer; it is not needed for a normal on-phone screenshot.

Troubleshooting
The screenshot includes browser or phone controls
A built-in Android screenshot records the device screen, so browser and system interface may appear. For a page-only capture, use Chrome DevTools and capture the viewport or full page.
The image dimensions do not look like the phone display
Check the selected viewport and device scale factor rather than judging scale by sharpness. A simulated viewport and a physical Android display are not interchangeable, and display density affects browser scaling.

The full-page capture is missing or repeats content
Check whether you captured the viewport or full page. For a scrolling screenshot on Android, review the assembled image for repeated or missing sections; availability and behavior vary by handset and OS version.
The site looks different in DevTools than on the phone
Device mode is emulation. Use remote debugging to inspect a tab running on the real Android phone when actual device rendering is what matters.
