To capture a Puppeteer screenshot after web fonts are ready, navigate to the page, wait for any page-specific content your capture depends on, then await document.fonts.ready before calling page.screenshot(). The screenshot API does not document a waitForFonts option; that option belongs to PDF generation.
Wait for fonts before taking the screenshot
This ES-module example saves a full-page PNG. Replace the URL and, if needed, add a wait for the page content your screenshot requires before the font wait.

import puppeteer from 'puppeteer';
const browser = await puppeteer.launch();
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com', { waitUntil: 'networkidle2' });
// Optional: wait for page-specific content before capturing.
// await page.waitForSelector('.article-content');
await page.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready);
await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
document.fonts.ready resolves when the document’s font-loading and layout work has settled. Put it after any application-specific readiness wait so that content added by the application is present before the capture. If later application activity changes the content or fonts used, wait for that activity and await font readiness again before capturing.
Choose the screenshot scope and format
fullPage: true captures the full page. For a viewport capture, omit it; to capture a specific region, use the documented clipping options. The screenshot options also include path and type, which let you choose where the image is saved and its format. For an element capture, Puppeteer’s screenshots guide documents using an element handle’s screenshot method; it attempts to scroll a hidden element into view.

Why network idle is not a font-readiness guarantee
Puppeteer’s screenshot guide demonstrates navigating with waitUntil: 'networkidle2' and then taking a screenshot. That navigation condition can be useful, but it is not a font-specific readiness option. Awaiting document.fonts.ready explicitly expresses the requirement that font loading settle before the image is captured.
Do not confuse screenshot and PDF font handling
Page.screenshot() does not document a built-in waitForFonts setting in ScreenshotOptions. By contrast, Page.pdf() waits for fonts by default: its PDFOptions.waitForFonts setting defaults to true and is documented as waiting for document.fonts.ready. That PDF behavior does not automatically apply to screenshots. The PDF documentation also notes that a background page may need to be activated with Page.bringToFront() for the font wait.

Troubleshoot screenshots that still use fallback fonts
- The screenshot starts before page content appears: wait for a selector or other application-specific condition before awaiting
document.fonts.ready. - The application injects content or changes typography later: wait for that change, then await
document.fonts.readyagain immediately before the screenshot. - You are using
waitForFontswithpage.screenshot(): remove it; the documented screenshot options do not include that property. Use the browser-side font readiness promise instead. - You expect PDF defaults on an image capture: call
document.fonts.readyexplicitly for screenshots. The built-in default font wait applies toPage.pdf(). - The font still does not look as expected: font readiness means loading has settled, not that a particular font successfully loaded or that every site uses the expected face. Check the page’s font declarations and loading behavior, and use a page-specific condition if the site applies fonts after its initial render.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. It accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; these cleanup steps can each be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs.
