A full-page capture can still show fallback, blank, or incomplete text if the font or page content is not ready. Open the saved image and inspect it rather than assuming a completed navigation means the typography rendered correctly.
What a reliable Devanagari screenshot requires
There are two separate things to get right: capture the entire document, and capture it after the page is displaying the intended Devanagari glyphs. Google’s font-loading guidance explains that Chrome can leave text using a web font blank until that font loads, and that font-loading behavior can differ among browsers. A navigation event completing is not proof that the intended font has rendered.

- Full-page mode: use a screenshot facility that captures the document beyond the visible viewport.
- Font readiness: verify that the page’s requested font has Devanagari glyph coverage, or that the browser’s fallback font displays the script acceptably.
- Content readiness: wait for the page sections and dynamically loaded content you need to appear.
- Visual verification: inspect the saved file, including the top, middle, and bottom of a long page.
Prepare the page and font
Check the font choice
Look at the page’s CSS and confirm that the selected web font covers Devanagari. If the site uses Google Fonts, its integration documentation describes stylesheet-based font loading and script subset controls: Get Started with the Google Fonts API. A font declaration alone is not enough; the font must load successfully before capture.

Fallback typography depends on the browser and operating system. A Chromium source change dated March 4, 2026 lists Noto Sans Devanagari as the standard and sans-serif default on Linux and ChromeOS, and Noto Serif Devanagari for serif; it records different defaults on Windows and macOS. These are implementation defaults in that source change, not a guarantee for every browser build or machine. If matching screenshots across machines matters, record the operating system, browser, viewport, and font environment. See the Chromium font-mapping change.

Capture the full page with Puppeteer
Puppeteer is a JavaScript library for browser automation. Chrome for Developers describes using it for tasks including screenshots and PDFs, and its documentation covers full-page visual snapshots: Puppeteer documentation. The example below launches Chromium, opens a page, waits for the document fonts, and writes a full-page PNG.
- Install: in a new project, run
npm install puppeteer. Puppeteer downloads a compatible browser as part of its standard installation. - Save this script as
capture.jsand replace the example URL with the page you need. - Run:
node capture.js. The script savespage.pngin the current directory.
const puppeteer = require('puppeteer');
(async () => {
const browser = await puppeteer.launch({ headless: true });
try {
const page = await browser.newPage({
viewport: { width: 1440, height: 900 },
deviceScaleFactor: 1,
});
await page.goto('https://example.com', {
waitUntil: 'networkidle2',
timeout: 60000,
});
// Wait for fonts currently used by the document to finish loading.
await page.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready);
await page.screenshot({
path: 'page.png',
fullPage: true,
type: 'png',
});
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
})();
networkidle2 waits for network activity to settle, but some sites keep connections open or load content in response to scrolling. If the needed content is not present after navigation, wait for a page-specific selector or trigger the required interaction before taking the screenshot. The font-ready wait covers the document’s current font loads; it cannot fix a missing font file or guarantee that a dynamically revealed section has already requested its font.
Capture the full page with Playwright
Playwright’s Page API provides a screenshot method and a file-saving example in its Page reference. The following Node.js script waits for navigation, waits for document fonts, and saves a full-page PNG.

Choose Puppeteer or Playwright based on the browser automation stack already used by your project. The cited documentation establishes their screenshot capabilities, not a performance winner between them.
Verify the saved image
Open the resulting PNG and inspect the whole page. In Devanagari, check that conjuncts, vowel marks, headline strokes, punctuation, and line spacing appear correctly. Also inspect sections loaded farther down the document: lazy images or dynamically inserted text can be missing even when the top of the page looks right. This visual check is essential because successful file creation does not establish that every glyph and section rendered as intended.
Common problems and fixes
- Devanagari text is blank: the web font may still be loading or may have failed. Wait for fonts, inspect the page in the browser, and check that the requested font includes Devanagari glyphs.
- Text appears in an unexpected style: the browser may be using a platform fallback. Check the CSS font stack and compare the capture in the target operating system and browser.
- The screenshot stops at the viewport: confirm that the call uses
fullPage: truein Puppeteer or Playwright. - Lower-page content is missing: the site may lazy-load or insert content only after scrolling or interaction. Trigger that behavior or wait for a relevant selector before capture.
- The script times out waiting for network idle: some pages maintain active network connections. Use a suitable navigation condition, then wait explicitly for the content and fonts required for the image.
- The output differs on another machine: browser and operating-system fallback fonts can vary. Record the environment and use a consistent font setup when visual reproducibility is important.

ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot from one GET request. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. It also offers an MCP server with screenshot tools for AI agents.
Use the API documentation at ScreenshotNeo docs. Replace the target URL as needed; save the response as a PNG, JPEG, or WebP according to your request settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a full-page screenshot include content below the fold?
Yes. Puppeteer and Playwright support full-page screenshots; make sure the page has loaded any content that appears only farther down before saving the image.
Does waiting for page navigation guarantee Devanagari fonts are ready?
No. Wait for the document fonts and verify the rendered page and saved image; navigation completion alone does not establish that the intended font loaded.
