You can use Python Playwright to save a screenshot of a page after login, but do not automate login or screenshots on IRCTC’s live booking website or app: IRCTC’s terms say automation and scripting software are strictly prohibited. For an authorized demo or test site, Playwright supports reusing a saved browser session and capturing a page image. If you need an IRCTC screenshot, sign in and capture it manually.
What IRCTC’s terms mean for this workflow
IRCTC’s terms and conditions for its online ticket booking service state: “Use of automation software and/or Scripting Software is strictly prohibited.” They also say suspicious booking activity, including use of scripting tools, may result in account deactivation and tickets being released. Do not use Playwright to log in, navigate, or take screenshots on the live IRCTC service.

IRCTC’s booking guide describes a user-facing login flow: select LOGIN, enter a registered user ID and password, and respond to the CAPTCHA shown in its illustrated login panel. The guide’s interface images may be dated; they do not grant permission to automate the site. The materials cited here do not establish an IRCTC-sanctioned automation interface.

Capture an IRCTC page manually
If you need an image of a page from your own session, use the browser’s built-in screenshot function rather than a script or browser automation. Sign in and navigate manually, then use your browser’s screenshot or print controls. Be careful not to share an image that exposes personal details, booking references, or account information.

Use Playwright only on an authorized demo or test site
The following example is for a site whose owner has explicitly permitted automation. Replace the example URL with your own authorized test page. It demonstrates saving browser state after a permitted interactive sign-in and then loading that state to capture a screenshot. It is not an IRCTC script.
Install Playwright
-
Create and activate a virtual environment, then install the Python package:
python -m venv .venv, followed bypython -m pip install playwright. -
Install a browser binary:
python -m playwright install chromium.Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Save and reuse authentication state
For an authorized test application, first sign in through a visible browser session, then save the resulting context state. In a separate run, create a context with that state and capture the page.

Keep it private: do not commit it to source control, upload it to a shared location, or reuse it beyond the authorized test. Add the state directory to .gitignore, and delete the file when it is no longer needed.
Choose the right screenshot method for an authorized page
Full page
page.screenshot(path="page.png", full_page=True) captures the full scrollable page. It may produce a tall image, so use it when you need below-the-fold content in one file.
Current viewport
page.screenshot(path="page.png") captures only the visible viewport. Use this for a conventional screen-sized image.

page.locator("main").screenshot(path="main.png")Playwright documents these screenshot forms in its Python screenshot guide. Use a selector that identifies one element reliably; a missing or ambiguous locator can fail or target the wrong part of a page.
Or skip the browser setup
For a site where you are authorized to request a screenshot, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. It is not a way around IRCTC’s prohibition: do not submit the live booking site for automated capture unless you have explicit authorization.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webpSee the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the request options and response details. Its cookie/consent handling removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with response headers indicating the page verdict and billing status. ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server with screenshot tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Reliability and data handling
For permitted test workflows, wait for a page-specific element rather than relying on a fixed sleep: a fixed delay can be too short on a slow run and waste time on a fast one. Save state only when needed, restrict access to it, and avoid putting secrets or personal data into screenshots that will be shared. No live IRCTC browser session or screenshot workflow is established by the documentation cited above.
