A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11To capture a scrolling webpage as one image with Playwright MCP, call browser_take_screenshot and set fullPage: true. That requests an image of the full scrollable page rather than only the current viewport. It is different from scrolling through the page manually, and it cannot be combined with an element screenshot.
Capture the whole page in one screenshot
- Open the target page in the browser session connected to your MCP client.
- Call
browser_take_screenshotwithfullPage: true. For example, request:Take a screenshot of the page, and specify the full-page option in the tool call. - Optionally set a filename, image type, or scale. The tool documentation says the image type is inferred from the filename extension; if neither is specified, it defaults to PNG. If you omit the filename, the tool generates one in its output directory. See the Playwright MCP repository and tool reference for the available arguments.
- Open the resulting image and check that it includes the content you need.
The key option is fullPage: true. It asks the screenshot tool for the full scrollable page, not just the visible viewport. It is a screenshot-tool option, not a command to scroll the page, and the MCP reference says it cannot be used with an element screenshot.
When to scroll manually instead
Use browser_mouse_wheel when you need to move through the page as a visitor would—for example, to reveal content loaded on scroll, or to inspect a particular section before capturing it. Scrolling and taking a screenshot are separate actions: scroll with the wheel tool, then capture the state you want.
The Playwright vision-mode guide lists browser_mouse_wheel among the additional coordinate-based tools and says vision capability must be enabled for its tools. It may not be available in every default server configuration. See the vision-mode guide for that capability requirement.

Choose the right tool for the result you need
| Need | Use | Result |
|---|---|---|
| One image spanning the full scrollable page | browser_take_screenshot with fullPage: true |
A requested full-page image rather than a viewport-only image. |
| Move through the page and capture a particular state | browser_mouse_wheel, then a screenshot call |
The page is scrolled as a separate interaction before capture. The wheel tool may require vision capability. |
| Inspect accessible structure or locate controls | browser_snapshot |
An accessibility snapshot, not an image. Playwright MCP describes snapshots as a better representation for interaction than screenshots. |
For interactive work, prefer the accessibility snapshot to identify page structure and controls; use a screenshot when the visual appearance itself is what you need. See the snapshot guide.
Handle lazy-loaded and changing pages
A full-page request does not establish that every page will load all content that appears only after scrolling. Infinite-scroll feeds, lazy-loaded sections, and virtualized rows may require interaction, and behavior depends on the site. The official documentation describes the full-page option but does not guarantee that one call triggers every dynamic section.

- If expected content is missing, scroll down in increments with
browser_mouse_wheeland allow the page to render before capturing. - For a section that appears only after interaction, perform that interaction first, then take a screenshot of the resulting state.
- For very long or virtualized content, consider capturing relevant sections or viewports rather than assuming the page has a single complete rendered document.
Use Playwright’s core API when writing browser code
If you are writing a Playwright program rather than calling the MCP tool, the corresponding core API is page.screenshot:
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });
This is regular Playwright API code, not the syntax for an MCP tool call. See the Playwright screenshot guide.

Troubleshooting
- The image shows only the visible viewport: confirm that the screenshot tool call includes
fullPage: true; a normal capture may be viewport-only. - The page lacks content that appears further down: the page may load it only after scrolling. Use incremental wheel scrolling, wait for the content, then capture the required state.
- The wheel tool is unavailable: check whether vision capability is enabled and supported by your MCP server and client configuration.
- You need a single element rather than the whole page: use an element screenshot instead, without
fullPage: true; the MCP reference says those modes cannot be combined. - You need structure, not pixels: use
browser_snapshotfor an accessibility-oriented view of the page rather than trying to infer controls from an image.
Or skip the browser setup
For an API-based screenshot instead of setting up a Playwright browser session, ScreenshotNeo accepts one GET request with a URL and returns an image or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo website and API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
