How to Capture a Scrolling Web Page in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

Capture a complete scrolling webpage in Microsoft Edge with Web capture, or select an area and save it. Includes shortcut and Windows snipping distinction.

In Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, open the webpage, choose Settings and more (…) > Web capture > Capture full page, review the result, and save it. Microsoft’s Edge guidance also lists Ctrl+Shift+S as a shortcut to Web capture. Menu names and availability can vary with browser version, device, and market.

Capture the entire webpage in Edge

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture in Microsoft Edge.
  2. Open Settings and more by selecting the ellipsis (…) in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Web capture. Alternatively, press Ctrl+Shift+S, a shortcut listed in Microsoft’s January 2, 2024 instructions for the United States market.
  4. Choose Capture full page. Microsoft describes this as the middle option in that guide; it captures webpage content beyond the part currently visible on screen.
  5. Review the captured image and save it to your device.

Microsoft’s current Edge feature page describes capturing a full webpage, including portions that would otherwise require scrolling. Its older how-to uses the label “Web capture.” If your menu wording differs, look for the current screenshot or web-capture command in Edge. Microsoft notes that availability and functionality can vary by device type, market, and browser version. Microsoft Edge screenshot feature; Microsoft’s Web capture instructions.

Capture only part of a page

To save a selected region rather than the full document, open Web capture and choose Capture area. Select the portion you want. Microsoft’s instructions describe copying or marking up an area capture; Edge’s feature information also describes drawing, highlighting, sharing, and copying. The exact actions presented can depend on the Edge version.

Edge Web capture versus Windows Snipping Tool

Use Edge’s full-page command when the goal is a single capture of webpage content that extends below the visible screen. Windows Snipping Tool is documented for freeform, rectangular, window, and full-screen snips; press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open its screen-snipping overlay. Those modes capture visible screen content or a selected region; Microsoft’s documented Snipping Tool modes do not describe scrolling-page capture. If Web capture is missing or the result is not what you need

  • The menu label is different: Edge’s command wording can change. Check the current Settings and more menu for a screenshot or web-capture option; Microsoft cautions that availability and functionality vary by version, device, and market.
  • The shortcut does not open the tool: Open Settings and more (…) > Web capture directly, which is the menu route in Microsoft’s instructions.
  • You only need the visible screen: Use Windows Snipping Tool with Windows logo key + Shift + S and select an appropriate snip mode. It is a different workflow from Edge’s full-page capture.
  • You need a reusable file or automated capture: Edge’s procedure is a manual browser workflow. For an API-based capture, see the option below.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return a screenshot or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP capture of the target URL; replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and whether the request was billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
