On a Mac, open the government webpage in Safari, choose File > Print, then select Save as PDF in the print dialog. Name the file, choose where to save it, and click Save. You do not need a physical printer.
Save the webpage as a PDF in Safari
- Open the government webpage in Safari and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Choose File > Print.
- Review the print preview. Check that the relevant text, tables, images, and page breaks appear as expected.
- Open the PDF menu or button in the print dialog and choose Save as PDF.
- Enter a filename, choose a destination such as Downloads or Documents, then save.
- Open the saved PDF in Preview and check that it contains the pages and information you intended to keep.
Apple documents this built-in print-dialog workflow and the option to choose a filename and location. Menu presentation can vary by macOS version. Apple: Save a document as a PDF on Mac.

Check the PDF before relying on it
A PDF is useful as a portable record, but it captures what the page printed at that moment; it is not a guarantee that every interactive feature or item displayed on the site will be included. Check the preview before saving and the resulting file afterward. If the page has an agency-provided PDF or download button, use that when you need the official document or a complete form.
If something is missing, try the page’s own print or download control. If Safari offers Reader view and the page is an article, you can also see whether that view produces a cleaner print result. Availability and suitability depend on the page; Apple notes that some webpages may prevent saving certain items. Apple: Save part or all of a web page in Safari on Mac.

PDF, Web Archive, and Page Source are different
| Format | Use it when | What it preserves |
|---|---|---|
| You want a portable document to print, share, or keep as a page snapshot. | A print-oriented rendition of the page; inspect it to confirm the needed content is present. | |
| Web Archive | You want to save a webpage in Safari’s webpage-saving format. | Page graphics and links; linked destinations still depend on their availability. |
| Page Source | You need the page’s HTML source rather than a reader-ready copy. | HTML source, not a formatted PDF. |
Safari’s File > Save As options for Web Archive or Page Source are not the PDF export route. For a PDF, use File > Print > Save as PDF. Apple’s Safari guide explains webpage saving formats.
Email a webpage as a PDF from Safari
If you want to send the page rather than first save a file, Safari’s Share menu may offer a PDF option, depending on the available sharing choices. For an article, the choices can also include the webpage, a link, or a Reader article. Apple: Share or post webpages in Safari on Mac.
