Use a browser automation script to open the page, accept its actual cookie-consent control, verify the post-consent state, and then save a screenshot. Run that script on a recurring schedule supplied by your host or operating system. The consent selector and scheduler depend on the target site and deployment environment, so there is no universal one-line setup.
Build the capture around the consent action
Playwright can automate navigation, page interaction, and screenshots. The reliable order is to navigate first, interact with the consent UI the way a visitor would, confirm the result, and only then capture. Use a fresh browser context per run unless you have verified that reusing consent state is appropriate.

- Identify the site’s consent control. Inspect the target page and choose a locator for its actual accept button or equivalent control. Labels, markup, and dialog behavior vary; do not assume a universal selector.
- Navigate and wait for the control. Wait for the consent control to be available before interacting, rather than relying only on a fixed delay.
- Accept and verify. Click the control, then wait for a target-specific confirmation, such as the banner becoming hidden or a known post-consent element appearing.
- Capture the required area. Choose viewport, full page, or a particular element based on what the scheduled record needs.
- Save a predictable, dated output. Use a filename scheme that distinguishes runs and make failures visible in your logs or monitoring.
The consent selector and confirmation below are deliberately site-specific placeholders: replace them with locators observed on your target site before running the script.

Runnable Playwright example
This Node.js example captures a full-page PNG after clicking an accept button and waiting for the consent dialog to disappear. Install Playwright and its browser for the environment that will run the job; keep the target URL and selectors in configuration rather than assuming they work for every site.

}If the site does not expose a dialog role, replace the confirmation with a site-specific condition, such as waiting for the banner locator to become hidden. Some consent interfaces live inside an iframe; inspect the page and use the appropriate frame locator when needed. Avoid treating a timeout as successful acceptance: let the run fail clearly, log the error, and preserve the next scheduled attempt.
Choose screenshot scope deliberately
- Viewport: captures the currently visible screen at the configured viewport dimensions.
- Full page: captures the page beyond the viewport, useful for a tall document. Lazy-loaded content may need deliberate scrolling or another readiness condition before capture.
- Selected element: capture a particular component when the whole page is unnecessary; use the element’s locator and its screenshot method.

Handle consent state across recurring runs
There are two sound patterns. The simplest is to create a fresh context for each run and accept the banner each time. Alternatively, save and reuse browser storage state if the target site actually records its consent decision there. Playwright storage state can include cookies and local storage, but a site may store consent another way; verify persistence on the target site rather than assuming a cookie is sufficient. Do not hide the banner with CSS as a substitute for accepting it. The aim is to capture the page after the user-facing consent action, not to conceal the UI while leaving consent unresolved.
Schedule it in the environment that runs the script
The scheduler is not part of the browser capture logic. Use the recurring-job facility of the chosen host or operating system, set the required frequency and timezone there, and ensure the job runs the same script with its environment variables and browser dependencies available. Since no host, operating system, cadence, or reliability target is specified, a particular scheduler cannot be prescribed responsibly.

For recurring output, configure a stable destination and a filename that distinguishes each run. Record the run time, success or failure, and any error message. If screenshots are retained remotely, make that storage step explicit in the job rather than assuming the browser will upload files for you.
Stability, reliability, and cost considerations
A fixed sleep can be too short on a slow page and waste time on a fast one. Prefer waiting for a meaningful selector or known post-consent state. For dynamic pages, choose a readiness condition that matches the content you need; network activity may continue indefinitely on pages with analytics or streaming updates.

Playwright’s screenshot assertion in its test runner waits until two consecutive screenshots yield the same result before comparing against an expectation, as described in the PageAssertions API. That behavior belongs to the test-runner assertion; it is not an automatic stability guarantee for every standalone scheduled screenshot. A capture script should define its own appropriate readiness checks.
Recurring jobs incur the resource cost of their host, browser startup, page loading, and any storage or monitoring you add. The supplied Playwright documentation does not establish a scheduler or hosting price, so estimate those costs using the actual environment and run frequency.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Accept button times out: confirm the button’s exact accessible name and whether it is inside a frame; update the locator and frame handling.
- Banner remains after clicking: verify the click targets the intended consent choice and wait for the real post-consent condition. Some sites require a different control or interaction.
- Capture happens before content is ready: wait for a site-specific selector or content state, not just navigation completion; account for lazy-loaded sections if capturing full page.
- Consent reappears on every run: the fresh context intentionally starts without prior state. If persistence is wanted, save and reuse storage state only after verifying the site stores consent in that state.
- Scheduled run works locally but not on the host: check that the host has the browser dependencies installed, the job receives its environment variables, and its output path is writable.
- Files overwrite each other: include a timestamp or another unique run identifier in the output name.
