Wait for Puppeteer’s page.goto() to finish, then call page.screenshot(). For an HTTP redirect chain, goto() resolves with the response for the final request; inspect that response’s URL and status if you need to confirm where the browser landed.
Capture the page after a direct HTTP redirect
Navigate to the starting URL and take the screenshot only after the navigation promise resolves. Puppeteer’s screenshot guide uses waitUntil: 'networkidle2' as an example readiness condition. Adjust it when the page’s content needs a more specific signal.

The optional chaining matters: Puppeteer documents that goto() can return null for cases such as navigation to about:blank or a same-URL hash change, so code should not assume every navigation produces a response. Verify the destination and redirect chain
For multiple HTTP redirects, Puppeteer’s Page.goto() API says navigation resolves with the response from the last redirect. That response lets you check the final URL and status. A valid HTTP status such as 404 or 500 does not necessarily make goto() throw in headless shell; inspect response.status() rather than treating promise success as proof that the destination returned a successful status.

Choose when the page is ready for the screenshot
waitUntil: 'networkidle2' is a useful starting point because it appears in Puppeteer’s screenshot example, but it is not a universal guarantee that every application has finished rendering. A site may populate meaningful content after the main navigation completes. In that case, wait for a page-specific selector or condition before capturing.

- Use the navigation’s wait condition to control when
goto()resolves. - If the needed content appears later, add a page-specific wait before
screenshot(). - Take the screenshot after all waits so it reflects the rendered state you actually need.
Puppeteer’s screenshot method captures the current page. It returns a Uint8Array by default, or a base64 string when requested; the example writes the screenshot to a file using the path option. See the Page.screenshot() API.

Troubleshooting
- The screenshot shows the old page or incomplete content: ensure the screenshot follows the awaited navigation, then wait for a selector or condition tied to the content you need if the app renders it later.

response?.status(). A 404 or 500 can be a returned HTTP response rather than a thrown navigation error. - The redirect destination is unclear: log

Yes. Read response.url() from the response returned by page.goto(), checking for null first.
