ApiFlash requires an access key and the full URL of the page to capture. Its default viewport is 1920 × 1080 pixels, so specify narrower dimensions explicitly. For example, 390 × 844 gives the capture a portrait, phone-sized viewport; it is an example size, not a guarantee that the result matches a specific phone.

URL-encode the target URL and any parameter values that need it. In a real request, replace MOBILE_USER_AGENT with the mobile-browser User-Agent string you intend to send. ApiFlash documents user_agent as a way to emulate a device; it does not establish that this reproduces every aspect of that device’s browser.
Keep the access key private
The endpoint accepts the access key as a request parameter. Avoid placing a real key in public client-side code or a public URL. ApiFlash also supports POST form data, which you can use for a backend request. Keep credentials in your server-side configuration and do not expose them in browser-delivered code.
Choose viewport, page height, and mobile behavior
Viewport screenshot or full-page image
For a normal mobile screenshot, leave full_page unset or set it to false. The image represents the configured viewport. Set full_page=true only when you want the entire page height; in that mode, height is ignored, so the image no longer represents a fixed-height phone viewport.
Viewport dimensions and scale
width and height are viewport dimensions in pixels. ApiFlash documents a maximum dimension of 16,350 pixels and a maximum width-by-height area of 33,177,600 pixels. A scale_factor of 1 or 2 is supported. A factor of 2 produces a higher-definition image and a larger file; for WebP, the documented maximum dimensions apply after scaling.

User-Agent is not a complete device profile
Set user_agent when a site uses the User-Agent header to decide which content to serve. Do not assume that width, height, and User-Agent alone guarantee a model-specific rendering, touch input, or other physical-device behavior: the documentation does not promise those details.
Wait for the page and choose the output
Wait for dynamic content
ApiFlash says it waits for network idle by default. For a page element that loads later, use wait_for with a CSS selector. A fixed delay is available when you need additional wait time; its documented default is zero and its maximum is 10 seconds. Prefer a selector or load-state wait when possible, since an arbitrary delay may be too short on a slow response or unnecessarily long on a fast one.
Image format and quality
ApiFlash supports PNG, JPEG, and WebP. The default is JPEG with quality 80; quality adjusts JPEG and WebP output. PNG is useful when you need a lossless image, while JPEG or WebP can reduce file size depending on the content and settings.

By default, the response body is image data with content headers. Set response_type=json if you want JSON containing links to the screenshot and, where available, extracted HTML and text.

Useful ApiFlash options for mobile captures
Beyond the viewport and User-Agent, these options can help tailor a capture. Availability of some features depends on the ApiFlash plan; an unsupported plan feature can return HTTP 403.

Limits, quota, and cost to account for
Request rate and failed captures
ApiFlash documents a rate of 20 requests per second with a burst size of 400. Requests above the rate are delayed; requests beyond the burst can receive HTTP 429. Identical failed captures are limited to five requests per hour.
Quota and cache behavior
Successful captures expose quota headers, and ApiFlash documents a quota endpoint. Its FAQ says cached and failed screenshots do not count toward monthly quota. A request after the plan quota is exhausted returns HTTP 402.

Why a mobile capture may look different from a phone
ApiFlash says captures run in Chrome on Linux. System fonts can therefore differ from fonts rendered on Windows or macOS. Its FAQ recommends serving your site’s own fonts rather than relying on operating-system fonts. Custom headers can also affect external font requests because they are applied to all requests.
Some sites with bot protection may block captures. ApiFlash’s FAQ says a proxy may help depending on the protection, but it is not a guaranteed workaround. A mobile User-Agent also does not ensure that a site will provide its mobile version: the site may rely on other signals or may block automated requests.

- The result is desktop-sized: Set
widthandheightexplicitly. The documented defaults are 1920 × 1080. - The page content is not mobile-specific: Add a mobile browser User-Agent if the site uses that header for content selection. Viewport dimensions and User-Agent do not establish complete device emulation.
- The screenshot misses a delayed element: Set
wait_forto its CSS selector. Usedelayonly when a fixed extra wait is appropriate, and keep it within the documented 10-second maximum. - The capture is unexpectedly very tall: Check that
full_page=trueis not enabled. Full-page mode captures the full height and ignores the specified height. - The request returns HTTP 429: Reduce request volume or spread requests out. ApiFlash says requests beyond its 20-per-second rate are delayed and excess beyond a burst of 400 can receive 429.
- The request returns HTTP 402: The plan quota has been exhausted. Check usage and quota headers or the quota endpoint.
- The request returns HTTP 403 for an option: That feature may not be available on the current plan.
- The page is blank, blocked, or incomplete: Check the target URL and loading conditions. Bot protection may block the capture; ApiFlash notes that a proxy may help in some cases but does not guarantee access.
- Fonts differ from the expected result: The capture environment uses Chrome on Linux. Serve site fonts directly where possible, and review custom headers that may interfere with external font requests.
- The image is too large or exceeds limits: Check both the maximum dimension and total viewport area. If using
scale_factor=2, account for the larger output dimensions and file size.
