For pages that reveal content as you scroll, first scroll through the page and allow time for new material to load; then generate and inspect the PDF. This can reduce missing lazy-loaded sections, but it is not a guarantee that every page will be captured completely, and it does not produce one continuous screenshot image.
What APITemplate.io captures—and what it does not
The APITemplate.io URL-to-PDF endpoint accepts a publicly accessible page and returns a PDF rendered in headless Chromium, which supports JavaScript and modern CSS. The result is a paper-style document split across pages, not a single tall image of the webpage.

If you specifically need one image rather than a PDF, this workflow is the wrong output format. APITemplate.io’s cited URL endpoint documentation establishes PDF generation; it does not establish that the endpoint can return a continuous full-page screenshot.

Prepare a scrolling page before generating the PDF
A browser may not fetch content below the visible area until a visitor scrolls near it. APITemplate.io’s Puppeteer guidance describes scrolling down in viewport-height increments, waiting briefly after each movement, and returning to the top before generating a PDF. That gives lazy-loaded content an opportunity to appear.

- Start with a public URL. The documented URL-to-PDF method is for publicly accessible webpages. The documentation cited here does not establish a workflow for login-gated pages.
- Let the page render. Allow its JavaScript and initial page activity time to run before capturing. A page that builds content dynamically may need more than a fixed initial delay.
- Scroll in increments and pause. Move down by roughly one viewport at a time, waiting after each movement so lazy-loaded sections and images can load. The exact delay depends on the site and is not specified as a universal value by APITemplate.io.
- Account for changing page height. Infinite-scroll pages may append material as you move down. Re-check the height or use a page-specific completion condition rather than assuming an initial height measurement covers everything.
- Return to the top and generate the PDF. Use the URL-to-PDF endpoint and its documented settings for the desired paper layout.
- Inspect the result. Check the opening, middle, and final pages for missing sections, absent images, blank areas, and unexpected breaks.
APITemplate.io’s example estimates page height from the body bounding box, but the article itself warns that this calculation “doesn’t work always.” A one-time measurement can become stale if scrolling causes the page to append more content. The source does not provide a universal test that proves loading is complete, so treat scrolling as a mitigation and verify the actual output. See APITemplate.io’s Puppeteer guidance.
Make the PDF readable with layout settings
After content has loaded, configure the document’s layout separately. APITemplate.io documents paper size, orientation, margins, print backgrounds, and header and footer options for PDF generation. These settings affect how loaded content is laid out on paper; they do not fetch content that never loaded.

For HTML-controlled output, APITemplate.io documents CSS @page rules for page sizing and margins when rendering engine version 153 and preferCSSPageSize are configured as described in its custom page size and margin guide. Its HTML template editor and advanced PDF guidance also cover page-break controls, including page-break-inside: avoid for suitable elements. Page-break rules can keep content together or start sections on new pages; they cannot recover content that the page failed to load.
Check the current documentation before relying on rendering-engine version labels or region-specific endpoint details, since these can change. The getting-started guide lists API endpoint regions including the US, EU, Australia, and Singapore; consult the current first-request documentation if region availability, latency, or data residency affects your setup.

Troubleshoot missing or cut-off content
- Only the initially visible items appear: the page may lazy-load as the visitor scrolls. Scroll down in increments and pause to allow content to load before generating the PDF.
- The bottom is missing on an infinite-scroll page: the page may have appended new content after the height was measured. Re-check its height while scrolling or use a completion condition appropriate to that page; do not rely on a single initial body-height estimate.
- Images or sections are blank: inspect whether the page has finished loading those resources before capture. The cited documentation does not establish a guarantee for arbitrary sites or restricted content.
- Text or elements split awkwardly between pages: adjust paper size, orientation, or margins, and apply page-break rules to elements where appropriate. These are pagination fixes, not lazy-loading fixes.
- The output is a PDF when you expected an image: the documented endpoint returns a paginated PDF. Use an image-capture tool if one continuous image is a requirement.
