The available documentation does not establish that it can log in to a GST account or handle CAPTCHA or OTP challenges, so do not treat it as a verified way to capture pages behind a taxpayer login.
What Screenshotlayer can—and cannot—do for a GST page
Screenshotlayer’s documented method is to request a capture of a URL. The request needs an access key and a complete target URL, including its protocol, such as https://. Its API specification documents options including viewport, fullpage, format, delay, ttl, force, user_agent and accept_lang (API specification).

That documentation does not establish support for importing an authenticated browser session, submitting login forms, or completing CAPTCHA or OTP prompts. The GST login guide describes CAPTCHA and says an OTP may be required in some circumstances, such as a first login or a new device (GST login and password guide). Changing a user-agent or language header is not evidence that the API can pass those interactive steps. Treat authenticated GST capture as unverified unless Screenshotlayer confirms a supported, secure workflow.
Capture a public page with Screenshotlayer
1. Choose a permitted, publicly reachable URL
Use the exact page URL you are allowed to capture, including https:// or http://. Start with a non-sensitive public page. If the target is within an account, do not send credentials, OTPs, taxpayer identifiers or private filing data in a URL or request log.

2. Select the capture dimensions and page extent
Set viewport to the dimensions you want. The vendor specification uses 1440x900 as an example, not as a tested or recommended GST setting. Add fullpage=1 when you want the full page height; omit it when the visible viewport is enough. Inspect full-page captures carefully, since they can include material below the portion you meant to share.
3. Pick format, delay and cache behavior
- Format: PNG is the API specification’s documented default. The FAQ also lists PNG, JPEG and GIF as supported formats. Choose according to your downstream needs and text legibility (Screenshotlayer FAQ).
- Delay: Set
delayif a page needs extra time before capture. The FAQ says the parameter can wait for animations or effects to finish; the sources do not establish an optimal delay for the GST portal. - Cache: The documented default
ttlis 2,592,000 seconds (30 days). If you need a fresh image after page content changes, review the TTL and the documentedforceoption. The cache duration is a Screenshotlayer setting, not a GST portal rule.
The product page also describes custom CSS and demonstrates viewport and full-height capture, but its examples are not reported tests on GST pages (Screenshotlayer).

4. Make a request and inspect the response
Use the request pattern and option names in Screenshotlayer’s current API documentation. Keep the access key private; do not put it in public code, screenshots or shared logs. The specification’s example uses a 1440×900 viewport and full-page capture, but it is not a GST-specific tested request.
After receiving the image, check for a login or error page, incomplete rendering, clipping, unreadable text, stale cached content or information you did not intend to expose. No GST capture result is established by the cited documentation.

GST returns: a screenshot is not the filing workflow
For GSTR-1, the GST tutorial directs users to log in at gst.gov.in, open Services > Returns > Returns Dashboard, choose the financial year and return period, then select Prepare Online or Prepare Offline (GST GSTR-1 procedure). The manual says online preparation is entered on the portal; offline preparation uses a JSON file prepared with offline tools. It does not establish that Screenshotlayer can access either authenticated workflow.
If you need to retain an official return or statement, use the portal’s own download facilities where available rather than treating a screenshot as a substitute. The cited GST guidance does not establish a general legal rule about screenshot admissibility.

Protect account and taxpayer information
- The GST tutorial warns users not to save passwords on public or shared systems and not to disclose account credentials or OTP information (GST credentials guidance).
- Before sharing an image, review it for confidential taxpayer or filing information and redact or crop anything that should not leave the account.
- Do not transmit authenticated account data to a third-party capture service unless you are authorized to do so and the service’s supported security and session behavior are clear.
