Urlbox is the clearest documented option for a no-code schedule: its guide describes pairing its API with Zapier. Apify offers a schedule attached to a specific screenshot actor. ScreenshotOne and Microlink are capture APIs in the reviewed documentation, but those pages do not establish built-in recurring schedules; use an external scheduler unless current documentation confirms otherwise.
The key distinction is who runs the schedule. An API plus an automation service gives you flexibility, but you must connect and maintain the workflow. An actor task can consolidate scheduling and capture in one platform, but its behavior is specific to that actor. Neither an archive of screenshots nor a recurring capture alone guarantees visual-diff alerts.

Best alternatives, by scheduling approach
| Service | What the reviewed documentation establishes | Best fit | Verify before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Screenshot API and MCP server; the provided product information does not establish a native recurring scheduler. | Try first when clean screenshots, capture-result billing signals, or AI-agent access matter. Connect it to a scheduler for recurring runs. | Choose and price your scheduler and storage; verify retry behavior for your workflow. |
| Urlbox + Zapier | Urlbox’s scheduling guide describes using its screenshot API with Zapier’s schedule trigger. The guide lists hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or a selected-time schedule. | A documented API-plus-no-code workflow for recurring captures and a destination such as Google Drive. | Confirm current Zapier integration support, cadence availability, plan limits, destination costs, and how failed captures are retried. |
| Apify website-screenshot actor | The cited actor listing describes saving inputs as a Task and adding a daily or weekly schedule. | Users comfortable operating a particular Apify actor and its task workflow. | Check the actor’s current maintainer and changelog, schedule limits, cost, output access, and retention. This evidence applies to the named actor, not all screenshot actors. |
| ScreenshotOne | Official documentation establishes an authenticated screenshot API with GET/POST requests and capture options; it does not establish a native recurring scheduler. | Use its capture API from a scheduler you select. | Confirm current capture options, plan limits, scheduler costs, and storage arrangements. |
| Microlink | Its screenshot page establishes hosted screenshot capture and other URL-derived outputs; it does not establish a native recurring scheduler. | Consider it if your integration needs more than screenshots from URLs; call it from an external scheduler for recurring runs unless current documentation says otherwise. | Recheck quotas, pricing, caching, scheduling, and whether its other outputs are useful to your workflow. |
There is no comparable independent benchmark here for speed, reliability, or image quality, so this is a workflow comparison, not a performance ranking.

Schedule, trigger, and volume
Choose a cadence that matches the decision you need to make: for example, a daily archive is different from a rapid alerting system. Confirm whether the workflow supports a fixed time, interval, or event trigger, and estimate the number of URLs multiplied by runs per month. Also decide how missed runs should be handled and whether duplicate captures are acceptable.
#1 Best Overall
Capture conditions
Specify the page state you need to preserve: viewport or full-page capture, wait conditions, selector targeting, and any cookie or consent interaction. If a site changes after login or depends on geolocation, headers, or cookies, verify that your chosen capture service supports those conditions before committing to a schedule.
Archive, alerts, and retention
A screenshot archive preserves snapshots; it does not by itself prove that the page changed or send a reliable change alert. Check whether you need a separate comparison and notification step. Confirm where files are saved, who can access them, how long they remain available, and whether storage or automation actions add cost.
Total operating cost
Compare the capture plan, scheduler or orchestration service, and storage together. A free capture allowance does not necessarily include recurring orchestration or long-term retention. Treat all vendor-published quotas and prices as time-sensitive and confirm the current terms for your expected volume.

What each option offers
ScreenshotNeo: clean shots with explicit capture outcomes
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its capture flow accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Responses identify page verdict and billing status in headers, and bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP tools—take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf—are available to AI agents using Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client. For a recurring schedule, pair the API with a scheduler you operate; the product information provided here does not establish native recurring scheduling.
Urlbox with Zapier: API capture plus scheduled automation
Urlbox’s guide, updated March 21, 2025, explains a Zapier schedule trigger paired with Urlbox screenshot requests, including an example that sends hourly BBC.com captures to Google Drive. It describes hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or specific-time scheduling. Because the guide is dated, confirm that the integration and the cadence you need remain available. The approach can reduce custom code, but it leaves you responsible for the automation connection, destination, and failure handling.

Apify: a schedule tied to one actor
The cited Apify website-screenshot actor listing describes submitting URLs through the console or API, saving inputs as a Task, and adding a daily or weekly schedule. Treat this as actor-specific functionality: other actors may differ. Before relying on it for ongoing monitoring, inspect the current actor page for ownership, maintenance, output access, cost, and retention.

ScreenshotOne: a capture API that needs a scheduler around it
ScreenshotOne’s docs describe API-key authentication, GET and POST requests, image output, and capture configuration. The pages reviewed do not document a native recurring scheduler, so plan to invoke the API from an external scheduler and arrange storage separately. Its homepage states a free allowance of 100 screenshots per month; this is a vendor-published figure checked in 2026, not an independently audited or guaranteed current limit.

Microlink: keep it when its broader URL outputs matter
Microlink’s screenshot page describes a REST endpoint for screenshots and broader browser controls. It does not establish a native recurring scheduler, so use an external scheduler for repeat captures unless current Microlink documentation confirms otherwise. The page checked in 2026 lists Free at 25 requests per day and Pro at $49 per month for approximately 46,000 requests per month. Those are Microlink-published plan figures, can change, and are not independently audited. Its broader URL-derived outputs may still make it a better fit when a workflow needs more than screenshots.

Build a reliable recurring-capture workflow
- Choose the page set and cadence. Start with a small set of URLs and a schedule frequent enough for your purpose. Calculate expected monthly requests before selecting a plan.
- Define a repeatable capture. Set viewport, full-page behavior, waits, and page state explicitly. Where consent banners or popups interfere, verify the service’s handling before archiving results.
- Connect the schedule to the capture endpoint. Use a native actor schedule where suitable, or a scheduler such as the Urlbox guide’s Zapier workflow. For APIs without documented scheduling, configure an external scheduler to call the capture service.
- Set the destination and access rules. Store files in a location your team can retrieve; establish retention and access controls appropriate to the pages captured.
- Handle failures and duplicates. Decide how the workflow should detect unsuccessful responses, retry transient errors, and avoid confusing duplicate runs with new snapshots. Test the failure path rather than assuming a schedule guarantees a successful image.
- Add comparison and notifications only if required. If you need change detection, add and verify a comparison step and alert destination. Do not assume scheduled screenshots include either capability.
- Review actual usage. Compare successful captures, failed attempts, scheduler runs, and storage against the expected monthly total. Revisit cadence and retention if the workflow costs more or produces more data than needed.
Or skip the browser setup
Use ScreenshotNeo’s one-call API to capture a page; connect that request to your scheduler for recurring runs. The examples save the response as a WebP image. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details.

The schedule ran, but no screenshot arrived
Separate scheduler status from capture status. Check the automation run, the API response or actor run result, and the destination permissions. Confirm that the URL is reachable from the capture service and that failed runs are not silently treated as successful tasks.
Best Value
The saved image shows a loading state or incomplete page
Review the configured wait condition and whether the page loads content after initial navigation. Set an appropriate selector, delay, or network-idle condition if supported by the selected capture service; then test on the actual page, since its behavior may change over time.
Consent dialogs or overlays obscure content
Verify whether your capture tool can accept consent or remove known overlays, or whether you must handle them with browser actions or custom logic. Do not assume all screenshot APIs interact with banners in the same way.
Recommended Free Tools
The monthly allowance is used sooner than expected
Multiply scheduled URLs by runs per month and include retries or manually triggered runs. Then check whether the scheduler, screenshot service, and storage each charge separately. Vendor plan limits can change, so compare against current published terms.
You have an archive but no change alerts
Recurring captures alone do not establish visual comparison or notifications. Add a comparison step and alert destination, and verify how it handles dynamic content, timestamps, and expected page variation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Microlink take a screenshot every day by itself?
The Microlink page reviewed establishes screenshot capture, not a native recurring scheduler. Use an external scheduler unless current Microlink documentation confirms built-in scheduling.
Does a scheduled screenshot service automatically tell me when a page changes?
Not necessarily. A recurring archive and visual-diff alerting are separate capabilities; verify comparison and notification support for the workflow you choose.
