How to Capture a Full Webpage When Browser Zoom Isn’t 100%

You can take a full-page screenshot without resetting browser zoom to 100%. Use Firefox’s Save full page or Edge DevTools’ Capture a full size screenshot, then inspect the saved image.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You do not need to reset browser zoom to 100% before taking a full-page screenshot. Leave zoom at the level that gives you the layout you want, choose the browser’s full-page capture option, and check the saved image for clipped or shifted content. The exact output can vary by browser and capture method.

Choose a full-page capture, not a visible-area screenshot

A visible-area screenshot records only what is currently inside the browser window. A full-page capture extends beyond that viewport to include the rest of the page. Browser documentation does not require 100% zoom for this; capture at your preferred zoom and inspect the result.

Capture a full page in Firefox

Use Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool

  1. Right-click an empty area of the webpage, or press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
  2. Select Take Screenshot.
  3. Choose Save full page, not Save visible.
  4. Save the image or copy it as needed, then check the top and bottom of the result.

Mozilla’s support instructions, last updated June 15, 2026, describe both full-page and visible-area captures: Take screenshots in Firefox.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use Firefox Developer Tools

Firefox Developer Tools can also capture the entire page. If the screenshot button is missing, open Developer Tools Settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons. The screenshot command supports --fullpage to include content outside the current window.

Philips 24 Inch Computer Monitor FHD 100Hz VA VESA Flicker-Free, 241V8LB | 1920×1080 LED Monitor, 4ms GtG, Adaptive Sync, HDMI 1.4, Tilt Adjust, Low Blue Light, 4yr Advance Replacement Warranty
  • CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
  • INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
  • THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
  • WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
  • A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents

The optional --dpr setting controls device-pixel ratio, which affects output scale: values above 1 produce zoomed-in images and values below 1 produce zoomed-out images. It is separate from the browser’s page-zoom setting; you do not need to change page zoom to use full-page capture. See Firefox’s screenshot documentation.

Capture a full-size screenshot in Microsoft Edge

  1. Open DevTools by pressing F12 or right-clicking the page and choosing Inspect.
  2. Open Device Emulation if needed.
  3. In the Device Emulation pane, open More options and choose Capture a full size screenshot.

This command captures page content outside the visible viewport. Edge treats rendered-page zoom and DevTools zoom as independent controls, so set the page zoom to the level you want and avoid changing DevTools zoom unless you intend to change the DevTools interface. See Microsoft Edge Device Emulation documentation and the DevTools overview.

Check the result if the page is clipped or incomplete

  • Only the visible portion appears: repeat the capture and choose Save full page in Firefox or Capture a full size screenshot in Edge DevTools.
  • The layout looks different than expected: confirm the rendered page’s zoom is at your intended level. In Edge, DevTools zoom is a separate setting and does not reset the page zoom.
  • The image scale is wrong in Firefox Developer Tools: check the --dpr value. It controls output scale, not whether the capture includes the full page.
  • Images or other content are missing: some pages load content as you scroll or depend on interactive behavior. Inspect the top and bottom edges and any areas that load dynamically; the browser instructions do not guarantee flawless capture of every such page.

Exact Chrome and Safari steps are not covered here. Check the current help for your browser before relying on a particular menu name or shortcut.
