Use CloudConvert’s API v2 capture-website task: provide the page URL and an image output format such as PNG or JPG, then add an export/url task to retrieve the result. CloudConvert says full-height screenshots are captured by default. This is an API workflow, not a browser-menu command.
What you need
- The public URL of the page you want to capture. CloudConvert also says its service can accept an HTML file instead of a URL.
- A CloudConvert API account and API key, handled securely by your application.
- An output choice: PNG or JPG for an image, or PDF when you need a document instead.
CloudConvert describes the screenshot service as powered by a Chrome-based browser. Its API v2 organizes processing into jobs containing tasks. The standard API endpoint and region-specific endpoints are documented; use the endpoint appropriate to your account rather than assuming one region applies to everyone. Create a full-page screenshot job
- Choose the target. Set
urlto the page address, or use an HTML file where appropriate. - Configure the capture task. Set
operationtocapture-website, provideurl, and chooseoutput_formataspngorjpg. - Export the result. Add an
export/urltask with the capture task as its input. The export task provides a URL for obtaining the generated file. - Submit and retrieve the job. Submit the job through the API, then follow its task/job status and export result using the API workflow documented by CloudConvert.
A representative job body follows. Replace the URL as needed and send it to the API using your API key through the documented authentication method. It is an illustrative payload, not a claim that a capture has been run.

Choose image, PDF, and job behavior
PNG or JPG
The documented image outputs include PNG and JPG. Select the one that fits the format expected by your next step; the available evidence does not establish a universal quality or file-size advantage for either. Options can depend on the selected output format.
The same operation can produce PDF. Treat it as a document output rather than a single screenshot image, and confirm the applicable PDF settings in the operation docs.

Full height and page readiness
CloudConvert says full-height screenshots are the default. Its product page also describes custom viewport size, zoom, and resizing controls; consult the current operation documentation for the exact available parameters and their format-specific behavior. If the page renders asynchronously, the service can wait for a CSS selector to appear. Use a selector only when a known page element is a reliable signal that the content you need has loaded.

Protected pages and timing
For protected resources, CloudConvert documents custom authorization headers. Use only credentials you are authorized to send, and avoid exposing secrets in client-side code or logs. The product page describes both asynchronous jobs and synchronous processing: choose asynchronous handling when your application can check back for completion, and synchronous handling only when the calling flow needs an immediate result and can tolerate waiting.

Common problems and fixes
- The job is accepted but no file is available yet: job processing may be asynchronous. Check the job/task state and wait for the export task to produce its result instead of assuming submission returns the finished image.
- The capture shows incomplete content: a page may populate after initial load. Configure the documented selector-wait option around an element that appears only when the needed content is ready; verify the selector matches the page.
- A protected page cannot be captured: provide the required authorization headers using CloudConvert’s documented option, and verify the credentials and access rights independently.
- A requested option is rejected: options can vary by output format and the supported configuration can change. Check the live operation reference and operations listing for the selected format and current engine settings.
- The export step fails or has no input: make sure the export task references the capture task name exactly and that the capture task completed successfully.
- The endpoint does not match your account: CloudConvert documents a standard endpoint and region-specific endpoints. Confirm the correct endpoint in your account/API documentation rather than hardcoding a region by assumption.
Cost, reliability, and implementation notes
CloudConvert’s documented workflow separates capture from export, so an integration should handle job state, export availability, and errors as distinct stages. No specific completion time or reliability figure is established here; avoid building a fixed timing assumption into production code. Pricing and supported API options can change, so verify current account terms and documentation before estimating ongoing capture costs.
CloudConvert’s API v2 documentation identifies official SDKs for PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, and .NET. SDK usage may be preferable to hand-building requests when your application already uses one of those languages.
