To capture a website from top to bottom with its cookie banner visible, use Firefox’s built-in full-page screenshot before clicking the banner. Open Developer Tools, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Settings > Available Toolbox Buttons, then select the screenshot control. Firefox saves the image to Downloads. For repeatable automated captures, Playwright can take the full-page screenshot with fullPage: true.
Choose which cookie-banner state to capture
Decide what the screenshot needs to show before interacting with the page. To document the banner as it first appears, capture the page before accepting, rejecting or otherwise dismissing the notice. To show the page after a consent choice, make the choice you want, wait for the page to update, and then capture it. A site’s banner behavior and timing can vary; these steps do not guarantee that every site’s content will change in the same way.
Capture the entire page in Firefox
- Open the website in Firefox and leave the cookie banner in the state you want to document.
- Open Developer Tools and open its Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. The screenshot control appears in the DevTools toolbar.
- Select that control. Firefox captures the entire page and saves the image in Downloads.
The control’s official label is “Take a screenshot of the entire page.” If you need the initial banner, do not click it until after taking the screenshot.
Use Firefox’s Web Console command
Firefox also supports a full-page capture from the Web Console. Open the console and run:

Automate full-page captures with Playwright
For scripted or repeatable work, Playwright’s screenshot API can capture the full scrollable page. After setting up a Playwright browser page and navigating to the target URL, use:
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });The fullPage: true option makes the screenshot cover the page’s full scrollable area rather than just the current viewport. Playwright also supports returning a screenshot as a buffer for further processing. This approach requires browser automation setup; Firefox’s built-in control is the simpler route for an individual manual capture.

As with a manual capture, decide the intended consent state before the screenshot. Capture before banner interaction to preserve the initial view, or make a consent choice and capture afterward if that is the state you need. The site itself determines how and when its banner and page respond.
Cookie inspection is a different task
Chrome DevTools can show cookies stored for a site: open Application > Storage > Cookies and select an origin. That lets you inspect stored cookies; it is not the full-page screenshot procedure. To capture a full page with the banner visible, use Firefox’s screenshot route or browser automation such as Playwright.

Troubleshooting
- The full-page button is missing in Firefox: Open Developer Tools Settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons.
- The banner is absent from the screenshot: Check whether it was dismissed or a consent choice was made before capture. To document the initial view, capture before interacting with the banner.
- The screenshot shows only the viewport: Use Firefox’s entire-page control or run the Web Console command with
--fullpage. In Playwright, setfullPage: true. - You can see cookies but still need a screenshot: Chrome’s cookie panel is for inspection. Use a full-page capture method separately.
