For a one-time capture, use Firefox’s screenshot interface and choose Save full page; download the image or copy it to your clipboard. For repeated captures, use Playwright and set fullPage: true. In either case, open the finished image and check that it shows the intended page and is legible at the size it will appear in the client report.
Capture a full page in Firefox
Firefox’s screenshot interface is the simplest manual route described here. Its Save full page option includes content beyond the part currently visible in the browser window. Take care not to select Save visible, which captures only the viewport.

- Open the website in Firefox and open the screenshot interface.
- Select Save full page.
- Choose Download to save the image in Firefox’s default download folder, or choose Copy to put it on the clipboard for pasting into your report or another application.
Use Developer Tools instead
If you prefer the Developer Tools toolbox, open its settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. Then click the screenshot icon. Firefox saves the image in the browser’s Downloads directory.

Use the Web Console for filename and capture options
Firefox’s Web Console accepts the :screenshot --fullpage helper. It supports options including a filename, delay, device-pixel ratio, clipboard output, and CSS selector. Use a distinct filename for each capture you need to retain: reusing a filename overwrites the previous image.

Capture repeated pages with Playwright
For recurring reports or a set of pages, Playwright’s screenshot API can save the capture directly to a file. The key setting is fullPage: true; its default is false, which does not request a full-page capture.

A full-page setting defines the requested capture scope; it does not by itself establish that every site’s lazy-loaded content, authenticated state, or interactive widgets will appear as intended. Check the image before sending the report
- Confirm the screenshot runs from the intended top of the page to the bottom and includes the material the client needs to review.
- Check that text and important visual details remain readable at the size used in the report. A long page scaled to fit one page may be difficult to inspect; consider several focused captures if that makes the content clearer.
- Give the file a recognizable name that identifies the page or reporting date, and make sure you are not overwriting an earlier capture.
- For pages that load content dynamically, rely on the captured result rather than assuming the full-page option guarantees every element was rendered. If something is missing, investigate the page’s loading state and capture again.
These are practical quality checks, not a formal client-report or archival standard. If a client has evidence-handling or accessibility requirements, follow those specifications.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
The screenshot stops at the visible viewport
In Firefox, check that you chose Save full page rather than Save visible. In Playwright, confirm the screenshot call includes fullPage: true.
The latest capture replaced an earlier one
The Web Console screenshot helper overwrites an image when the same filename is reused. Choose a unique filename, such as one containing the page name or reporting date, before capturing again.

Some page content is missing
Full-page capture controls the capture area, but it does not guarantee how every dynamic page, authentication state, or interactive widget will render. Check the target page and resulting image; adjust the page’s load or interaction steps in your workflow if needed.
The full image is too small to read in the report
A full-page image can become difficult to read when fitted into a limited report area. Use multiple focused captures if they communicate the page more clearly, or choose a PDF workflow when that better suits the client’s review.

Does Playwright capture the full page by default?
No. The API reference says fullPage defaults to false; set it to true to request a full-page screenshot.
Can I copy a Firefox full-page screenshot instead of downloading it?
Yes. In Firefox’s screenshot interface, choose Copy to transfer the image through the clipboard.
