Set the page’s viewport width and height in CSS pixels, then take the screenshot with fullPage: true. The viewport controls the page’s responsive layout; fullPage controls how much of that layout is captured. They are separate settings.
Capture the full page at a chosen viewport
In Playwright JavaScript, configure the viewport when creating the page, before navigating to the site. Then use page.screenshot() with fullPage: true:

}The 1440 × 900 dimensions are illustrative choices, not Playwright defaults. Replace them with the CSS-pixel viewport you need. The Playwright Page API defines fullPage as capturing the full scrollable page instead of just the currently visible viewport.

- Viewport: The browser’s CSS-pixel width and height for rendering the page. It affects responsive breakpoints and therefore the layout in the screenshot.
fullPage: true: Captures the full scrollable page rather than only the visible viewport. It does not set the viewport size or guarantee that every site-specific lazy-loaded item has loaded.
As the Playwright Screenshots guide explains, full-page capture is like using a very tall screen so the page can fit in the image. Keep the desired viewport dimensions explicit even when capturing the entire page.

Make sure the content is ready before capturing
After navigating, wait for the state your task requires. A basic page.goto() may be enough for a static page, but some sites load images or sections only after scrolling, after a delay, or in response to other interaction. Full-page screenshot mode does not promise to trigger every site’s lazy-loading behavior.
If content appears only as the page scrolls, scroll through the relevant areas and wait for that content to appear before calling screenshot(). The needed action depends on the site. After capture, inspect the image for missing content, unexpected responsive layout, and fixed or sticky elements that appear in surprising positions; these are practical checks, not guarantees from the API.
Choose full-page, element, or clipped capture
Use full-page mode when you need the entire scrollable document. If you need only a particular component or region, an element screenshot or a clipped screenshot can avoid producing an unnecessarily tall image. The Page API documents these screenshot options alongside fullPage.

Common problems and fixes
- The image shows only the first screen: Set
fullPage: true; the option defaults to false. - The page uses the wrong responsive layout: Set the intended viewport dimensions before navigation and capture. Full-page mode changes the capture extent, not the viewport.
- Content below the fold is missing: The site may load it only after scrolling or other activity. Trigger that behavior and wait for the content before taking the screenshot.
- The screenshot is extremely tall: That is expected when capturing a long scrollable page. Capture a specific element or clip if the whole document is not needed.
- The example’s option spelling does not work in another language: This example uses JavaScript. Python’s corresponding option is
full_page=True; consult the documentation for your language binding and installed version rather than copying JavaScript property names unchanged.
