Firefox can save an entire webpage—including content below the fold—without an extension. Open Firefox Screenshots, choose Save full page, then download the PNG or copy it. For more control, Firefox Developer Tools also provides a full-page capture button and a Web Console screenshot command.
Capture a full webpage with Firefox Screenshots
- Open the webpage you want to capture.
- Launch Screenshots by right-clicking an empty area of the page and selecting Take Screenshot. On macOS, Control-click works as the equivalent context-menu gesture. You can also press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS. (Mozilla Support: Firefox Screenshots)
- In the capture interface, select Save full page in the upper-right. Do not choose Save visible if you need content below the current viewport: that option captures only what is currently visible.
- Choose Download to save a PNG to Firefox’s configured download folder, or select Copy to put the image on the clipboard. The corresponding shortcuts are Ctrl/Command + S to save and Ctrl/Command + C to copy; press Esc to cancel. (Mozilla Support: Firefox Screenshots)
For quicker access later, add the Screenshot button through Menu → More Tools → Customize Toolbar…. This is optional; the context-menu and keyboard-shortcut routes work without customizing the toolbar. The interface can also capture a selected region or a page part Firefox highlights.

Use Developer Tools for a toolbox button or extra controls
The Developer Tools route is useful if you want a capture control in the toolbox or need command options. Its screenshot button is not enabled by default.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Open Developer Tools for the page.
- Open the toolbox Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Select the screenshot icon that appears in the toolbox. Mozilla’s documentation says the image is saved to the browser’s Downloads directory. (Firefox Source Docs: Taking screenshots)
Run a full-page capture from the Web Console
For a command-line-style option, open the Web Console and use:
#1 Best Overall
:screenshot --fullpage
The --fullpage option includes content outside the current window bounds. Other documented options let you wait before capture, change device-pixel ratio, set an output filename, capture a selector and its descendants, copy to the clipboard, or force file output. For example:
:screenshot --fullpage --delay 2 --filename full-page.png
Here --delay 2 waits before capture and --filename sets the output name. The delay can help when a page needs a moment to settle, but Mozilla’s documentation does not guarantee identical results for every dynamic page.
Useful documented options include --dpr for device-pixel ratio, --selector for an element and its descendants, --clipboard to copy the capture, and --file to force file output. Consult Mozilla’s screenshot command documentation for the command’s accepted argument syntax.

If you need a single component rather than the entire page, use the Inspector’s Screenshot Node context-menu action. It captures the selected element and its descendants; it is distinct from a full-page screenshot. (Firefox Source Docs: Taking screenshots)
Which built-in route should you use?
| Route | Setup | Best suited to | Controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox Screenshots | None; open from the context menu or shortcut | A quick one-off capture | Full page, visible area, selected region or highlighted page part; download or copy |
| Developer Tools button | Enable it under toolbox Settings → Available Toolbox Buttons | A capture control in the toolbox | Full-page button; Inspector also has Screenshot Node for one element |
Web Console :screenshot |
Open the Web Console and enter the command | Captures needing command options | Full page, delay, device-pixel ratio, filename, selector, clipboard and file output |
Fix common full-page capture problems
- The image stops at the visible area: In Firefox Screenshots, choose Save full page, not Save visible. If using Developer Tools, confirm that you enabled the button labeled Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- You cannot find the toolbox screenshot icon: It is off by default. Enable it in toolbox Settings under Available Toolbox Buttons.
- The page has not finished changing: For a console capture, try a short
--delay. Dynamic pages can behave differently, and Mozilla’s documentation does not promise a universal result for every page implementation. - You meant to capture a component: Use the Inspector’s Screenshot Node action rather than a full-document capture.
- The screenshot crosshair is hard to position with a pointer: Firefox Support documents arrow-key movement, Shift + arrow for selection adjustments, and Ctrl/Command + arrow to move to viewport edges. Mozilla notes that moving the crosshair does not work on Wayland. (Mozilla Support: Firefox Screenshots)

For an automated screenshot from a script or service, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns an image or PDF. Its clean-shot steps accept cookie and consent banners before capture and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, with response headers identifying the page verdict and billing status.
