How to Capture a Full-Page Screenshot in Firefox on Linux

Use Firefox’s screenshot interface or Developer Tools to capture a full webpage on Linux, save or copy the image, and work around common workflow questions.

In Firefox on Linux, right-click an empty area of a webpage and choose Take Screenshot, or press Ctrl+Shift+S. In the screenshot interface, choose Save full page, then select Download to save a PNG or Copy to put it on your clipboard. Mozilla’s instructions cover both options.

Capture the whole page with Firefox’s screenshot tool

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture.
  2. Right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S.
  3. Select Save full page in the upper-right corner of the screenshot interface. This captures the page beyond the part currently visible in the browser window.
  4. Choose Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s default download folder, or choose Copy to place the image on the clipboard. Downloaded filenames follow a timestamp-and-page-title pattern.

If you use the screenshot tool often, add its button to the toolbar: open Menu → More Tools → Customize Toolbar and drag the screenshot button into place. Mozilla Support documents the menu, shortcut, save and copy actions, and toolbar customization.

Linux note: Wayland crosshair movement

Mozilla notes that moving the crosshair with the keyboard does not work on Wayland. This caveat concerns keyboard movement of the screenshot interface’s crosshair; it does not replace the documented full-page workflow.
