Do not assume a switch automatically cancels every TalkTalk service: TalkTalk says One Touch Switching is not always used, and some network moves require direct contact.
1. Check which TalkTalk services you want to end
Review your account for broadband, TalkTalk TV, mobile, add-ons and TalkTalk Mail Plus. Decide whether you intend to cancel all of them or only particular services, and ask TalkTalk to confirm what will stop as a result.

TalkTalk TV requires TalkTalk broadband, so cancelling the broadband also ends that TV service. TalkTalk mobile can continue, but its charges may change when other TalkTalk services are cancelled. TalkTalk’s help and contact options can help you confirm how your package is affected.

2. Find your minimum-term end date and possible charges
In My Account, look under My Package or Package & Add-ons for your contract end date. If you end a service before its minimum term expires, TalkTalk may charge an early termination fee based on your package and the months remaining. Add-ons can have separate commitment breakage charges.

TalkTalk’s public cancellation guidance lists examples such as £10.20 per month remaining for several Fibre packages and £10.80 per month for Fast Broadband; its contract-end information also lists package-specific entries, including £11.25 for Fibre 900 with Total Home Wi-Fi. These are examples, not a quote for your account, and the pages do not show a publication year for the figures. Ask TalkTalk for the charges that apply to your package and planned end date. TalkTalk says a 14-day cancellation window starts the day after the contract is agreed, with charges limited to services used during that period. It also states that 30 days’ notice applies when ending service outside the minimum period. The pages do not display a publication year for these policies, so confirm how they apply to your order and circumstances with TalkTalk.

3. Choose the right way to cancel
If you are not switching to another provider
Contact TalkTalk through its current help or contact options and request cancellation. Ask for the service end date, the services affected and any charges to be confirmed. TalkTalk says it will confirm when service is due to end.
If you are switching broadband provider
Place your order with the new provider and ask whether it will notify TalkTalk and submit the disconnection request. TalkTalk says a new provider should make it aware of a switch, but One Touch Switching is not always used. If the new provider cannot take over your existing line, you may need to contact TalkTalk yourself.

TalkTalk specifically says customers moving to Virgin or Vodafone on CityFibre must contact TalkTalk directly. For other switches, verify who is handling the cancellation rather than assuming the transfer will close your account or every service on it. TalkTalk’s One Touch Switching guidance
4. Get the end date and cancellation details in writing
Keep TalkTalk’s cancellation or switching confirmation. Check that it records the agreed end date, which services are stopping and any quoted charge. TalkTalk says there may be more than one final bill, depending on the services involved and switch timing.

5. Return equipment using the instructions for your account
If TalkTalk asks you to return equipment, follow the instructions it sends and retain proof of dispatch. Its public information is inconsistent: one section of the cancellation page gives 28 days, another gives 42 days, and its billing guidance says an equipment charge may apply if equipment is not returned within 28 days after you receive a returns bag. The pages do not show a publication year for these deadlines. Ask TalkTalk to confirm the deadline in your case if your instructions are unclear or conflict. 6. Check the final bill before stopping payments
TalkTalk advises keeping your recurring payment active until the final bill has been paid. Review the bill for part-period charges, early termination or add-on fees, and any equipment charge. Keeping the payment method active also allows a credit refund to be processed.
Does TalkTalk’s ownership change affect cancellation?
TalkTalk says BT Group acquired TalkTalk Telecommunications Limited and customer contracts transferred to that company on 5 October 2026. Its notice says service and contract terms remain unchanged and customers need take no action because of the transfer. The transfer itself does not cancel a service or change the cancellation steps.
