You can cancel Spotify Premium without deleting your playlists or saved music. Spotify says they stay with your account when it switches to Spotify Free. For a regular paid subscription, Premium usually continues until your next billing date; a zero-priced free trial ends immediately when canceled.
Cancel Premium from your Spotify account
- Sign in to the Spotify account that has the subscription.
- Open your Spotify account page and select Manage your plan.
- Select Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation steps shown on the account.
- Check the plan status and next billing date on your account page to see when Premium ends.
Spotify’s account-specific options can vary by region and payment route, so follow the labels and instructions shown on your account.

What happens to Premium and your playlists?
For an ordinary paid plan, Spotify says Premium stays active until the next billing date, after which the account switches to Free. Playlists and saved music remain on the account, and you can keep logging in and listening with ads. Cancellation does not itself delete your Spotify account.

Spotify also says playlists, saved music, and settings are retained across plan changes. That does not mean Premium features continue after the account becomes Free.

Special cases and troubleshooting
Canceling a free trial
If the trial is priced at zero, cancellation switches the account to Free immediately rather than preserving Premium through a future billing date. Spotify says that trial cannot be reactivated.
Canceling Family or Duo
The manager controls cancellation of the shared plan. If you are a member and use the cancellation steps to leave, you remove your own account from the plan; you do not cancel the manager’s subscription. Contact the manager if you want the shared plan canceled. Spotify says accounts managed on a canceled Family plan move to Free, with Premium benefits ending at the next payment date.

When the account has no cancellation button
If Premium is associated with a phone or internet provider, open Manage your plan, check Payment, and use the partner contact link shown there. Cancellation instructions depend on that provider; Spotify’s account page is where to find the relevant contact details.

If Spotify says Free but you are still charged
Spotify says a Free account has no Premium subscription or payment information associated with it. The charge may belong to a different Spotify account. Sign out, then try other login details to find the account tied to the subscription.
