Cancel Paramount+ and HBO Max separately, using the company that bills each subscription—not the assumption that a merger will end or combine them. First check each account’s billing provider, cancel before its next renewal date, then confirm the subscription is set to end and note the paid-through date.
Will a merger cancel or combine Paramount+ and HBO Max?
Do not assume so. The official cancellation guidance for Paramount+ and HBO Max provides separate account and provider-specific cancellation routes; it does not establish that a merger automatically transfers, combines, or cancels subscriptions. Check both accounts and follow any current notice from the company that bills you. Canceling one service does not cancel the other.

Find out who bills each subscription
A streaming service may bill you directly, or billing may run through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, Prime Video Channels, or a TV, phone, or internet provider. If another company bills you, the streaming service may not show a cancellation control.

- HBO Max: Open the profile’s Subscription screen in the app or sign in at HBOMax.com/subscription. The billing provider appears near the top. A card statement or your TV, mobile, or internet provider can also help identify the route.
- Paramount+: Identify where you purchased the subscription, then check that platform’s subscription settings. For direct billing, Paramount+ account settings are at paramountplus.com/account.
How to cancel Paramount+
Use the instructions for the company that bills your Paramount+ subscription. Paramount’s U.S. terms say a recurring subscription ordinarily remains available until the end of the current billing period after cancellation; ordinary cancellation does not usually result in a refund, except where required by law or specifically provided. Uninstalling the Paramount+ app on Android TV does not cancel a Google Play-billed subscription. If you cannot sign in, Paramount+ support directs customers to its Help Center chat; type “Agent” to request help. See Paramount+ cancellation instructions.

How to cancel HBO Max
The official help page is currently branded HBO Max. If it bills you directly, sign in at HBOMax.com/subscription or open the profile’s Subscription screen, select Cancel Your Subscription, and confirm. Record the expiration date shown. Access normally continues through the end of the paid billing period.

If the subscription screen names another billing provider, cancel through that provider instead. HBO Max’s help article lists Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, Amazon Appstore, Prime Video Channels, and TV, phone, or internet providers among the possible routes; availability depends on territory and purchase method. After canceling, check the provider account for confirmation. A directly billed HBO Max account may show Resume Your Subscription instead of a cancel option; Apple may show an end date with no cancel control. Some providers send a confirmation email.
When should you cancel to avoid another renewal?
Both services’ recurring subscriptions continue renewing until canceled. Cancel before the next billing date. HBO Max says some providers require cancellation at least 24 hours before the next billing period; the exact cutoff depends on the billing provider. Use the renewal date and any advance-notice rule shown by that provider rather than waiting until the last day.

Keep the confirmation email if one arrives, and record the cancellation status and expiration date. Continued access after canceling can simply mean the paid period has not ended; it does not by itself show that cancellation failed.

Check the provider’s account page first: it is the authoritative place to verify whether that subscription is still active. HBO Max identifies cancellation too close to renewal, an active subscription, and multiple accounts as possible reasons for a later charge. An included TV, mobile, or internet package may not appear as a separate charge from the streaming service.

- Check the status and renewal date on the account of the company that bills the service.
- Check other email addresses and platform accounts you may have used to subscribe, especially if HBO Max appears to have been canceled but charges continue.
- Check whether the provider requires advance notice before renewal.
- If the account says canceled but another charge posts, contact the billing company shown for the subscription. Provide the cancellation confirmation, charge date, and amount.
- If the subscription is part of a TV, phone, or internet package, contact that provider about the package rather than relying only on the streaming service’s direct-billing account page.
Deleting either app is not a substitute for cancellation. HBO Max states, “Deleting the HBO Max app does not cancel your subscription.”
