Cancel through Netflix, HBO Max, or Disney+ only if that service handles your billing; if a phone company, TV provider, Apple, Google Play, or another partner bills you, cancel through that provider instead. Deleting the app or signing out does not stop recurring charges. After cancelling, save the confirmation and note the date access ends.
Before you cancel: find the billing provider
Open the service’s account or subscription page and look for the billing details. If they do not identify the company, check your bank or card statement and any internet, mobile, or TV provider account that might include the subscription. The company taking payment usually controls the cancellation steps.

- If the streaming service bills you directly, use its account settings.
- If a third party bills you, use that company’s cancellation flow. The streaming service may not show a cancel button.
- Do not rely on uninstalling the app, signing out, or removing it from a device; none of those actions cancels the subscription.
How to cancel Netflix
- Sign in to Netflix and open Manage your membership.
- Select Cancel, then select Finish Cancellation.
- Look for Netflix’s confirmation email and check the account for the stated end date.
If your account does not show a cancel option, Netflix says to follow the payment partner instructions listed in the Membership section. If you are cancelling because you are moving to a package that includes Netflix, Netflix says you may be able to link your existing account to that package; once linked, billing to the payment method on file stops.

When Netflix access ends
For a regular account, access continues through the current billing period. A Netflix account on hold closes immediately when cancelled. A remaining gift-card or promotional balance may continue to pay for service after cancellation, so check the account’s displayed end date rather than assuming access ends on the day you cancel.

Can you pause Netflix instead?
Netflix offers an eligible one-month pause that begins on the next billing date. You can keep streaming until that date; then the charge is skipped and streaming and downloads stop during the pause. Netflix says your current plan price is charged after the month, when viewing resumes. If the account remains eligible, the pause may be extended one month at a time, up to three months total. Unpausing early charges immediately and changes the billing date.
The pause option is not available on the Basic plan or with some payment methods, including direct debit, gift cards, and some partner payments. Plan names and eligibility can change, so rely on the option shown in your account.

How to cancel HBO Max
HBO Max’s cancellation page is country-specific; the instructions below reflect its Malaysia English help page. Start by checking the subscription area on the service’s website or in the app to identify the billing company. A bank statement or your internet, mobile, or TV provider’s account can help if the service does not make it clear.
- If HBO Max bills you directly, sign in to the service’s subscription page.
- Select Cancel Your Subscription and confirm.
- Note the expiration date and save the confirmation.
Directly billed subscribers retain access until the subscription expires at the end of the billing period. If the service has no cancellation button, follow the billing provider’s process. The help page lists Apple, Google Play, Samsung, and internet, mobile, or TV providers as possible third-party billing routes; available partners and exact steps vary by country. HBO Max states: “Deleting the HBO Max app does not cancel your subscription.”

Can you pause Disney+?
Disney+’s UK guidance says some monthly subscriptions billed directly by Disney+ can be paused from Account → subscription → Pause Subscription, with a duration chosen there. Promotions and minimum-term subscriptions may not qualify. The pause begins on the first day of the next billing period: access continues until then, then service access stops and charges pause until the pause ends. The UK guidance does not establish that the feature is available in every region or for third-party billed plans.

What to do if you are still charged after cancelling
- Check the account or billing provider portal to confirm the subscription is no longer active, and review the end date.
- Check whether another email address has a separate subscription with the service.
- Consider whether the cancellation was completed close to renewal. Some providers require cancellation at least 24 hours before the next billing period, but that is not a universal rule; verify the timing with the company that bills you.
- If the charge remains unexplained, contact the billing provider with your cancellation confirmation and the charge details.
