Cancel an Al Jazeera subscription through the service that bills it: use your iPhone’s Apple Account subscription settings for an Apple-billed subscription, or Google Play subscriptions for a Google Play-billed one. If you can’t find it, check the account used to subscribe and the provider shown on your payment receipt. Deleting the app does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
First, identify who bills the subscription
The place to cancel depends on the billing provider, not simply on whether you use an iPhone or Android phone. A subscription may not appear in the store account currently signed in on your device if you bought it using a different account.

Check the purchase receipt or payment record for the provider. The public App Store listing identifies Al Jazeera Network as the iOS app’s developer and labels the app free; the Google Play listing identifies Al Jazeera Network as publisher. Those listings do not show how an individual account is billed or establish that every app user has a paid subscription.

This first check prevents the most common mistake: trying to cancel in the wrong store. An iPhone can contain subscriptions billed by Apple, while an Android phone can show Google Play subscriptions, and the account used for the original purchase may differ from the account currently active on the device. The receipt is more reliable than the app icon or store listing for identifying the payer.

Cancel an Apple-billed subscription on iPhone
- Open Settings on the iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top of Settings.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Al Jazeera subscription if it appears.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm or follow any remaining prompts. The button may be farther down the subscription screen.
Apple’s subscription guidance applies to subscriptions billed through Apple, including ones purchased through an App Store app. If the Al Jazeera subscription is not listed, check that the iPhone is signed in to the Apple Account used to buy it. If you see an expiration message in red or there is no Cancel Subscription button, Apple indicates that the subscription is already canceled.
How to verify the Apple result
Do not stop at opening the subscription page. Select the Al Jazeera entry and read the status shown there. A visible Cancel Subscription control means cancellation still needs to be completed. After you follow the prompts, return to the entry and look for the resulting cancellation or expiration indication. If Apple shows a red expiration message or no cancellation button, treat that as confirmation that the subscription is already canceled.
If the entry is absent, sign out mentally from the device and think about which Apple Account made the purchase. A family member’s account, an older account, or an account used on another device may be the one attached to the receipt. Check each plausible Apple Account rather than repeatedly tapping through the account that happens to be open.

Apple-specific pitfalls
- Assuming the app developer is the biller. Al Jazeera Network is listed as the developer, but that does not prove Apple bills every user.
- Stopping after finding the app is free. The App Store label describes the app listing; it does not identify the billing arrangement for an individual account.
- Missing the button. Apple notes that the cancellation control may be lower on the subscription screen.
- Confusing an already-canceled plan with a missing plan. A red expiration message or no Cancel Subscription button indicates an Apple subscription is already canceled; an entirely absent entry calls for an account and receipt check.
Cancel a Google Play-billed subscription on Android
- Open the Google Play subscriptions page on your Android device.
- Sign in to the Google Account used to make the purchase.
- Select the Al Jazeera subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.
Google Play states that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription. A recurring plan otherwise renews and is charged according to its terms until you unsubscribe. A prepaid plan instead expires at the end of its stated period. A cancellation is not the same as a refund: any refund is subject to Google Play’s refund policy.
Google’s wording is explicit: “When you uninstall the app, your subscription won’t cancel.” Removing Al Jazeera from the phone therefore removes the software but does not complete the account action. You must open the Google Play subscription record and use its cancellation flow.

How to verify the Google Play result
Use the Google Account that appears on the purchase receipt, especially if the Android device has more than one account. Select the Al Jazeera entry, complete every cancellation prompt, and then inspect the resulting status in Google Play. Keep the receipt until the status is clear; it identifies the transaction if the entry later proves difficult to locate.
Google Play distinguishes two plan types. A recurring plan is set to renew and charge under its terms unless you unsubscribe. A prepaid plan is designed to expire at the end of its stated period. - Do not rely on removing the app. Uninstalling Al Jazeera does not stop a Google Play subscription from renewing.

Prepaid Google Play plans expire at the end of the period shown for the plan. For an Apple-billed subscription, use the status shown in Apple Subscriptions to determine whether it is canceled or still active. If the status does not match what you expected, verify the billing account and provider before assuming that charges have stopped.

Cancellation and refund are separate decisions. The platform instructions explain how to stop a renewal, while refund eligibility follows the applicable platform policy. Do not treat a cancellation screen as a promise that a previous payment will be returned.
