Cancel Prime without closing your Amazon account
For most Amazon.com members, use the website or Amazon Shopping app to open the Prime membership controls. Amazon’s published instructions give these routes; button names may vary as the interface changes, so follow the current prompts through to confirmation.

On the Amazon.com website
- Sign in to the Amazon account with the Prime membership.
- Open Accounts & Lists and select Prime Membership.
- Under Manage Membership, choose End Membership.
- Follow the prompts until Amazon confirms the membership change. Check your account status or confirmation email afterward.

In the Amazon Shopping app
- Open Profile.
- Tap Manage Prime Membership.
- Open the membership management menu and choose End Membership.
- Complete the on-screen steps and verify the result in your account or confirmation email.

If you joined through the Android shopping app
Amazon UK Help says customers who signed up for Prime through the Android shopping app must manage the subscription through Google Subscription services. This exception is stated for the UK help page and that signup channel; if it does not match how or where you subscribed, check the membership controls and billing details for your account. What cancellation changes—and what stays
Prime is a paid membership with benefits such as eligible fast delivery, Prime Video, and Amazon Music features, as described on Amazon’s Prime page. Ending the membership changes access to Prime benefits according to the cancellation options and terms shown for your account. The available sources do not establish one universal benefit end date or refund outcome for every country, plan, or membership history; rely on the terms displayed during your cancellation.

Your Amazon shopping account is separate from Prime. You can leave the account open to continue ordinary shopping. Amazon says an open account costs nothing. Closing the account is a different action: Amazon warns that closure makes it inaccessible and can remove access to order history, invoices, returns, refunds, Prime memberships, and other linked services. End Prime or close the Amazon account?
