Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Use UrlFetchApp.fetch() in Google Apps Script to send an HTTPS request to a screenshot API, then check the response code before treating its body as an image. The API’s endpoint, authentication, parameters and response format are provider-specific. The example below uses ScreenshotOne’s documented endpoint; India-based Apps Script callers do not need a different request pattern based on the available documentation.
Call a screenshot API from Apps Script
Apps Script’s URL Fetch service can make HTTP and HTTPS requests to external hosts. For a project that declares OAuth scopes explicitly, include https://www.googleapis.com/auth/script.external_request; Apps Script generally detects required scopes automatically when they are not specified in the manifest. See Google’s UrlFetchApp reference.

This illustrative example sends a JSON POST request to ScreenshotOne’s documented /take endpoint and returns the successful response as a blob. It is based on the provider and Google documentation, not a hands-on-tested script.
function capturePage() {
const apiKey = 'STORE_THIS_PRIVATELY';
const response = UrlFetchApp.fetch('https://api.screenshotone.com/take', {
method: 'post',
contentType: 'application/json',
headers: { 'X-Access-Key': apiKey },
payload: JSON.stringify({ url: 'https://example.com', format: 'png' }),
muteHttpExceptions: true
});
const status = response.getResponseCode();
if (status < 200 || status >= 300) {
throw new Error(response.getContentText());
}
return response.getBlob();
}
ScreenshotOne documents GET and POST requests to its API. The sample uses POST with a JSON body and the X-Access-Key header. The provider also supports an access key in the request parameters. Treat the key as a credential: do not commit a real key to source code, expose it in a public URL, or share a project containing it. Use a suitable private secret-handling approach for your deployment.

- CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
Save the returned image
The function returns an Apps Script blob after a successful response. To create a Drive file, for example, replace the final return response.getBlob(); with:
const blob = response.getBlob().setName('screenshot.png');
return DriveApp.createFile(blob).getUrl();
This requires the script to have the applicable Drive authorization. Choose the filename extension to match the format requested from the provider.

Keep the image response separate from API errors
In ScreenshotOne’s normal image-response mode, a successful request returns binary image data, while errors are JSON containing an error code and message. Setting muteHttpExceptions: true lets the script inspect non-success responses rather than having the fetch call stop before the status check. The example throws the returned error text for a non-2xx response; production code can catch that exception and log or handle it appropriately.

Do not send every response body to an image viewer or save it with an image extension without checking the status. If the request fails, inspect the error text and verify the target URL, API key, request format and provider-specific parameters.

Render the target page as it appears in India
“In India” can refer either to where your Apps Script runs or to the region from which the target site is rendered. Google says the URL Fetch service uses Google’s network infrastructure; the available documentation does not establish that a caller located in India needs a different request pattern.
For a page that should be rendered using an India location, ScreenshotOne documents ip_country_code=in. This is a rendering option for the target webpage, not evidence about where a caller is located or whether India-based signup or payment is available. ScreenshotOne cautions that using a proxy may make a request slower. See its API documentation for the provider’s parameter syntax.

Plan for Apps Script quotas and provider limits
Google’s quota page displayed URL Fetch limits of 20,000 calls per day for consumer accounts and 100,000 per day for Workspace accounts when checked in 2026. Google notes that quotas can change, so treat these as the values displayed at that time, not permanent guarantees. They are Apps Script limits; the screenshot provider may impose its own plan, rate or usage limits as well. Check Google’s Apps Script quotas and your provider’s terms before relying on a daily volume.
Troubleshoot common failures
- Authorization or scope error: If the manifest explicitly lists scopes, add
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/script.external_request. Complete any authorization prompt required by the project. - Non-2xx response or JSON saved as an image: Check
getResponseCode()before using the body as image data. WithmuteHttpExceptions: true, readgetContentText()on failures and use the provider’s error code and message to diagnose the request. - Authentication failure: Confirm that the access key is valid and sent in the method and location the provider supports. Keep the key private; avoid placing it in a URL that could be exposed in logs or shared.
- The screenshot shows the wrong regional content: The caller’s location and the rendered page’s location are separate. Use the provider’s documented India rendering option, such as ScreenshotOne’s
ip_country_code=in, when supported. - Calls stop after repeated runs: Check both the Apps Script URL Fetch quota for the account type and the screenshot provider’s own usage limits. Google’s published quotas may change.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Apps Script request from India need a special API pattern?
The available documentation establishes no India-specific request pattern for an Apps Script caller. A provider’s regional rendering option affects the target page’s appearance, not the caller’s location.
Does ScreenshotOne’s India rendering option confirm that users in India can sign up or pay?
No. Its documented India render location establishes a page-rendering option only, not account creation or payment availability in India.
