AMD lists the Radeon RX 570 at 150 W typical desktop board power and recommends a 450 W minimum PSU. Those numbers are not interchangeable: 150 W describes the graphics card, while 450 W is AMD’s baseline power-supply recommendation for a PC using it. To judge your own system, calculate the needs of all installed components, compare the result with the PSU’s rated output, and check the exact card’s power connector.
What the RX 570 wattage figures mean
AMD’s Radeon RX 570 specifications list 150 W as typical desktop board power and 450 W as the minimum PSU recommendation. The first figure is for the card; it is not the total power drawn by your PC or a PSU size by itself.

The 450 W figure is a useful baseline, not a guarantee that every 450 W supply will suit every RX 570 system. The CPU and other installed parts affect the whole-system requirement, and the supply must have the right cable for the specific card.

How to calculate the requirement for your PC
- Identify the exact RX 570 card. Check the model name on the card, its box, or its product page. Board-partner versions can differ in power consumption and connector requirements.
- List the rest of the system. Include the CPU and all other installed components rather than treating the GPU figure as a whole-PC estimate.
- Estimate the complete system’s requirement. Use a PSU or wattage calculator with the components in your parts list. AMD’s PSU guidance recommends calculating the wattage requirement of all installed components and comparing it with the PSU’s rated output.
- Check the PSU label and cables. Find its rated output on the unit’s label, then verify that it has the auxiliary PCIe power cable specified for your exact RX 570. Do not assume a connector listed for another variant—or an adapter—is appropriate.
- Compare the figures. Use AMD’s 450 W minimum recommendation as the RX 570 baseline, then assess the actual PSU against the calculator’s whole-system estimate and the card’s exact specifications. The published figures do not establish one universal headroom formula or a precise requirement for a PC whose parts are unknown.
RX 570 examples: power and connector differences
Manufacturer specifications show why it is worth checking the precise board-partner model instead of assuming every RX 570 has identical power requirements.

| Card | Listed card power | Auxiliary connector | PSU recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| AMD Radeon RX 570 (OEM) | 150 W typical desktop board power | Not stated on AMD’s cited specification page | 450 W minimum, AMD |
| MSI RX 570 ARMOR 4G OC | 150 W | One 8-pin | 450 W recommended, MSI |
| MSI RX 570 GAMING 4G | 120 W | One 8-pin | 450 W recommended, MSI |
The MSI figures come from its RX 570 ARMOR 4G OC specifications and RX 570 GAMING 4G specifications. They are manufacturer specifications, not measurements of your PC under load.
Check the PSU’s condition, not just its label
A printed wattage rating does not prove that an older or faulty supply can still deliver its specified output. AMD lists boot failure, random crashes or hangs, reboots, and display corruption among possible PSU-related symptoms. These symptoms are clues rather than proof: other hardware or software problems can cause them too.

- The LCD power tester is a powerful power test device. This power tester only needs to be connected to the ATX connector of the power supply to easily and intuitively know whether the output of each power supply is normal. It can detect ATX, BTX, ITX, TFX computer power supply, and can display various voltage and PG values in liquid crystal to quickly detect the performance of computer power supply.
- The LCD displays various parameters such as output voltage and PG. When each parameter exceeds the normal value, the buzzer will sound a warning and the corresponding value will flash.
- It can measure the voltage of each group of power supply 3.3V/+5V/+12V/-12V/SB+5V/PG, and also measure the output wire P4/P6/P8/SATA/IDE, external DIE/SATA/P6/P8 is the light Displayed, there is no LCD voltage. Only the 24pin or 20pin will have the LCD voltage.
- It has LCD intuitive and accurate display voltage (+/-0.01V), automatic fault alarm, complete test interface, small and beautiful appearance, and many test functions. It is the best choice for quickly detecting PC power.
- Support 20Pin, 24Pin ATX interface / SATA interface / 4Pin, 8Pin interface / PCI-E graphics card 6Pin interface / floppy drive interface / ATE hard disk interface.
If your PSU is below the complete build’s calculated requirement, lacks the card’s specified cable, or appears faulty, reassess it before relying on the system. Choose a replacement for the full system and the exact card connector, rather than selecting a unit solely because its label says 450 W.

The GPU name alone does not reveal the CPU, storage, fan count, overclocking settings, or exact card model. Without those details, a precise whole-PC wattage cannot be calculated. The sound decision is to combine the system-wide estimate with the exact card specification and the PSU’s rated output and cabling.
