Can you preorder a Switch 2 for midnight pickup now?
There is no confirmed general midnight preorder pickup for a standard Nintendo Switch 2 in the current information. Best Buy’s November 2026 announcement is for a late-night store opening tied to the Zelda game release. How to check whether your order qualifies for pickup
- Open the order confirmation or order-status page. Confirm the exact console or bundle, fulfillment method, selected store, and any pickup date or release instructions.
- Look for an explicit pickup option. A retailer’s ordinary curbside or in-store pickup service does not establish that a preorder can be collected at midnight. The option must apply to your item and location.
- Check the retailer’s message about the event. Best Buy says customers who already selected pickup for the Zelda game can visit during its late-night opening, and that customers will receive an email with an option to switch to store pickup. Follow the email for your order; this process is not confirmation that a console preorder qualifies.
- Verify the store’s hours and location. Use Best Buy’s store locator and confirm the event details for the location you plan to visit before setting out.

What to bring for a Best Buy pickup
For a standard Best Buy pickup, bring the order number and a government-issued photo ID that matches the name on the order or the authorized pickup person. Check your confirmation email for any release-event instructions that add to or differ from the general guidance. Target
Target says preorder pickup and Drive Up are being tested for select preorder products and stores. Look for the option on the product page and again in the cart; regular pickup availability is not proof that a Switch 2 preorder can be collected at midnight. Best Buy’s original U.S. launch announcement said nearly all its stores would open at 12:01 a.m. ET on June 5, 2025 for preorder pickup and walk-in purchases, with limited console, game, and accessory stock.
