Export the Notion database as a CSV, read the URL property, then use a browser automation script such as Playwright to capture each page to a local image file. This gives you a straightforward batch workflow without treating Notion itself as a screenshot tool. If you need the images inside Notion, that is a separate API step and requires checking Notion’s current API documentation before implementation.
Prepare the Notion database
Make sure every row you want to capture has a URL property containing the page address. Notion’s Web Clipper can add a URL property for the original webpage when you save a page into a database; clipping is a way to collect URLs, not a bulk screenshot feature. See Notion Web Clipper.

Check that the database can be exported. Notion’s export documentation says full-page databases export as CSV, with Markdown files for subpages. Form views cannot currently be exported; use Table view to export form questions and responses instead. Guests need Full access to export, and Enterprise workspace or teamspace settings may disable export. See Export your Notion content.

Capture each CSV URL with Playwright
The script below uses Node.js, the csv-parse package, and Playwright. It reads the CSV, opens each valid HTTP or HTTPS address in a browser page, and saves a full-page PNG with a sanitized row title and row number. Playwright’s documented Page API includes navigation and screenshot operations; the code is a practical implementation of that pattern, not a tested guarantee for every site.
Install dependencies
Save the exported database CSV as database.csv, then run:
npm init -y
npm install playwright csv-parse
npx playwright install chromium
Save the script
Save this as capture-notion-csv.mjs. Change URL_COLUMN and NAME_COLUMN to match your CSV headers. The name column can be a title or other stable identifier; if left unset, the script uses the row number.
import fs from 'node:fs/promises';
import { parse } from 'csv-parse/sync';
import { chromium } from 'playwright';
const INPUT = 'database.csv';
const OUTPUT_DIR = 'screenshots';
const URL_COLUMN = 'URL';
const NAME_COLUMN = 'Name'; // Set to null to use row numbers only.
const TIMEOUT_MS = 30000;
function safeName(value) {
return String(value ?? '')
.normalize('NFKD')
.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9._-]+/g, '-')
.replace(/^-+|-+$/g, '')
.slice(0, 80);
}
function validHttpUrl(value) {
try {
const parsed = new URL(String(value ?? '').trim());
return parsed.protocol === 'http:' || parsed.protocol === 'https:' ? parsed.href : null;
} catch {
return null;
}
}

}
Run and inspect the results
Run:
node capture-notion-csv.mjs
PNG files and capture-log.json will appear in the screenshots directory. Each output filename includes its CSV row position, so files remain distinguishable even if titles repeat. The log records the input URL, outcome, final URL after redirects, and HTTP status when a response is available.
Choose viewport or full-page captures deliberately
The example requests a full-page capture using Playwright’s fullPage: true option. The viewport is set to 1440 by 900 pixels; change it if the screenshot should represent a different screen size. Full-page images can be very tall, and pages with endless scrolling or content that loads only as you scroll may need site-specific handling. For a viewport-only image, remove fullPage: true or set it to false. Check Playwright’s current Page API documentation for the exact behavior and available screenshot options.
Handle failures and review the batch
Keep the log alongside the output files and review failures instead of silently treating every row as a successful capture. Pages may redirect, require authentication, show bot checks, load slowly, or reject automated browsing. A successful navigation does not establish that the screenshot contains the intended content, so spot-check images and compare logged final URLs with the source URLs.

Blank, incomplete, or blocked page: Review the page manually. It may require sign-in, block automation, or depend on content that appears after the initial document load. Do not assume that a captured file means the target content rendered correctly.
-
Missing or oddly named files: Confirm the CSV headers exactly match
URL_COLUMNandNAME_COLUMN. The filename is sanitized and limited in length; the row number is retained to avoid collisions. -
CSV parsing problems: Use the original exported CSV rather than copying rows into a text editor, and verify that the URL property is a plain URL column. The parser handles quoted CSV fields and a byte-order mark.

Control runtime, reliability, and storage
This script processes one URL at a time, which limits simultaneous browser load and makes row-by-row failures easier to inspect. A large database can take considerable time because every page must load and be rendered. Increasing concurrency may reduce elapsed time but also increases memory use and may trigger rate limits or bot defenses; add it only when you can tolerate those trade-offs.
Set a reasonable navigation timeout, preserve the log, and rerun only failed rows if the batch is long. Before running against sensitive or private URLs, consider where browser traffic goes and who can access the resulting screenshots. The screenshots are saved locally by this script; they are not automatically uploaded into Notion.
Returning screenshots to Notion is a separate integration
Local capture and Notion write-back are different workflows. To place images in Notion, you need a current, supported method to upload or reference image files and attach them to the appropriate page or database content. The export documentation does not specify that write-back process. Verify current official Notion API documentation for query and pagination behavior, API version requirements, file upload restrictions, and how an image is attached before building an automated upload step; do not assume a local file path can be written directly into a Notion property.
Or skip the browser setup
A hosted screenshot API can remove the need to install and operate Playwright for capture. ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns an image or PDF; its website screenshot API also supports CSV-driven workflows built around individual URL requests. Here is a cURL example for a URL from the database:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the sample URL with the current CSV row’s URL and provide your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie and consent banners are accepted and removed before capture, along with known newsletter popups and chat widgets; those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and responses include page-verdict and billing headers. Frequently Asked Questions
Can Notion bulk-screenshot database URLs by itself?
Notion’s documented database export provides the rows as CSV; the capture step is performed separately with a browser script or screenshot service.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Can I capture URLs collected with Notion Web Clipper?
Yes. When the clipper saves a webpage into a database, it can preserve the original address in a URL property; export that property and process its values.
