In Shopify admin, open Products, select the products you intend to remove, choose Delete selected products, and confirm. Deletion is permanent: Shopify says deleted products cannot be restored. If your goal is only to stop a product from displaying, archive it instead.
Before deleting: decide whether you need permanent removal
Deleting removes a product permanently from Shopify. Shopify’s Adding and updating products guidance says deleted products can’t be restored. If a product is out of stock or you no longer want it displayed but may need its record later, archive it rather than delete it.

How to bulk delete products in Shopify
- Open the product list. In Shopify admin, go to Products.
- Narrow the list. Search or filter for the products you intend to remove. Filtering first makes it easier to verify the scope of your selection.
- Select the intended products. Shopify’s bulk-action guidance describes selecting products individually, selecting a page, selecting all 50+ items, or selecting all results in a filtered view where that option is available. The selection options and wording can vary by page or device, so check whether you have selected one page or all matching results.
- Review the selection before proceeding. If the product data may be useful later, consider exporting a backup first. Shopify’s product export supports selected products or products matching a search and filters. As an extra precaution, compare the export or selected records with your intended list before deletion.
- Choose the delete action. Select Delete selected products from the bulk actions.
- Read the confirmation and confirm only if the scope is right. The deletion cannot be undone through Shopify.

Check backups, apps, and workflows first
Export product data if you may need it
Shopify product export can create a backup of product data, including an export of selected products or products matching search and filters. Export is useful for retaining information; it is not a way to delete products.

Consider app and automation dependencies
Some stores have apps or workflows that refer to product records. Shopify Flow’s Product deleted trigger starts when a user or third-party app deletes a product, and the deleted object exposed to the trigger contains only the product ID. If your store uses Flow or other apps, check whether a deletion could affect a process that depends on those records.
Why a CSV import is not a deletion workaround
Shopify explicitly says CSV files can’t be used to bulk-delete products; use the Products bulk actions instead. A CSV export can serve as a backup, but importing a modified CSV is not a safe substitute for deleting records.

CSV imports also have their own risks. Shopify warns that omitting dependency columns can cause existing data to be removed, and changing variant option values can create new variant IDs that may break third-party dependencies. Avoid changing product data through a CSV import in an attempt to remove products.
