You can build a Bluehost website with guided WordPress AI onboarding, a separate AI Website Builder, an AI Store for ecommerce, or a manual WordPress/third-party setup. The right route depends on whether you need an online store, want WordPress flexibility, or prefer a more guided builder. The available documentation describes these four methods; it does not establish that they were independently tested or compared for performance.
Choose a Bluehost build method
| Method | Best suited to | How you build | Publishing detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| WordPress AI Builder onboarding | A WordPress blog, business site, or other standard website | Answer setup questions, review three generated designs, then customize in WordPress or publish the selected layout. | Bluehost says the tool is included with its WordPress or Web Hosting plans. | Separate AI Website Builder | A non-commerce blog, portfolio, business, or informational site | Describe the project, optionally add images and a reference URL, then edit with drag-and-drop controls or AI chat prompts. | The help flow says publishing requires upgrading to the Get Online plan. | AI Store | An ecommerce website that needs product listings and order management | Choose the Sell Online/AI Store path, then use the store dashboard to manage products, orders, and settings. | It is a distinct store-oriented path in Bluehost’s direct-to-paid flow. | Manual WordPress or compatible third-party tools | People who know their preferred theme, plugins, framework, or development workflow | Set up WordPress or use a compatible third-party tool on Bluehost hosting; check the tool against the hosting environment. | Bluehost identifies WordPress as its primary platform and allows compatible third-party tools. How to build a website with Bluehost
1. Decide what the site must do
Start with the site’s job. For a blog, portfolio, business, or informational site, choose a non-commerce path. If visitors need to browse products and place orders, choose AI Store rather than the separate AI Website Builder. If you already know the tools or framework you want, manual setup offers more control.

2. Choose a domain and hosting plan
Your domain is the website address; hosting stores the site files and makes them available online. Bluehost’s starting guide lays out the sequence as choosing a domain, selecting hosting, building the site, and launching it.
Before checkout, review the billing term, renewal price, domain conditions, and any add-ons shown for the offer you are considering. For example, when accessed October 7, 2026, Bluehost’s WordPress AI Builder page displayed a Starter price of $3.99 per month on a 36-month term, renewing at $9.99 per month. Treat those as vendor-displayed terms, not a permanent monthly price; check the live offer before paying. Bluehost also said the included domain renews at the then-current rate after its first year and that retaining a free domain may involve a non-refundable domain fee in some refund circumstances. 3. Select the matching build flow
For WordPress AI onboarding, begin with a WordPress or Web Hosting plan and follow the guided site setup. For the separate AI Website Builder, use its project-based builder flow; Bluehost’s help page documents that publishing requires the Get Online plan. For ecommerce, select Sell Online/AI Store. For manual setup, use WordPress or another tool only after checking compatibility with the hosting environment.
4. Add a brief, assets, and content
In WordPress AI Builder onboarding, enter a site title or type and describe the business or project; you can optionally add a logo. Bluehost says the flow then presents three generated WordPress designs. Review them before choosing one to customize or publish. See the WordPress Builder Start steps.

In the separate AI Website Builder, describe the project and optionally provide up to three images and one reference URL. Edit the generated site using drag-and-drop controls or AI chat prompts. Keep the distinction clear: this builder is documented for non-commerce websites, while AI Store is the ecommerce route. Read the AI Website Builder overview.

Review the generated layout or selected theme, then replace sample material with accurate page copy, imagery, contact details, and navigation. Use WordPress editing if you want its themes and plugins, or the builder’s own controls if you want to stay in its guided workflow. For the separate AI Website Builder, account for the Get Online plan requirement to publish; the trial itself does not remove that requirement according to the help documentation.

Bluehost’s September 15, 2026 blog post advertised a 14-day AI Website Builder trial without a credit card. Trial availability and terms can change, so confirm the current offer before relying on it. Bluehost’s dated announcement.
6. Check the live site after launch
Visit the published domain and check that key pages, navigation, contact routes, and—if applicable—product and order flows work as intended. Review security and optimization settings available in your chosen plan and tools. The cited product information does not provide an independent comparative performance test of these four routes, so choose on workflow and requirements rather than assuming one is faster.
