Before buying or mounting parts, check the exact dimensions together: MSI’s published maximums—440 mm GPU length, 170 mm CPU-cooler height and 200 mm ATX PSU length—do not guarantee that every maximum-size component will fit alongside every radiator and fan arrangement.
Check part fit before you start
The MEG Maestro 900R is a full-tower case that supports E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. MSI specifies E-ATX boards up to 280 × 305 mm. Confirm your particular motherboard’s footprint and connector locations, then compare the rest of the system against the case’s published limits.

| Part or case feature | MSI-published specification | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Motherboard | E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX; E-ATX up to 280 × 305 mm | Board footprint, mounting points and cable-header locations. |
| Graphics card | Up to 440 mm long | Card length and thickness in the chosen horizontal or vertical position, including nearby cables and cooling hardware. |
| CPU cooler | Up to 170 mm high | Air-cooler height, or radiator and fan placement if using liquid cooling. |
| ATX power supply | Up to 200 mm long | PSU length and room needed to connect and route its cables. |
| Radiators | Up to two 420 mm radiators; 420 mm at top and bottom, up to 360 mm at the side | Actual radiator, fan and component dimensions in the simultaneous layout you intend to use. |
These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that all listed maximums work together in one build. Check the exact dimensions of your parts and the chosen cooling layout before assembly. MSI’s official MEG Maestro 900R specifications list supported clearances and mounting capacity.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

The case includes a PCIe 5.0 riser cable and vertical GPU bracket, so MSI’s included vertical-mount option does not establish a need to buy a separate riser. No independent thermal or noise comparisons are established here; choose based on fit, service access and the appearance you want.
#1 Best Overall
- Support Back-Connect Motherboard - enables easy installation without the worry of forgetting to connect cables, which might otherwise require disassembling graphics cards and coolers
- 270-degree Panoramic Display - the front interior of the chassis incorporates a space for displaying figurines, complemented by a 270-degree panoramic tempered glass, transforming it into a showcase-style chassis
- GPU Support Stand - equipped with a level indicator to ensure effortless adjustment of the support height during installation, preventing sagging
- Dust Filter - filters on the top and bottom are designed to give users the best experience in cleaning
Prepare the case and choose a layout
The chassis measures 695 × 379 × 671 mm and has a net weight of 33 kg, according to MSI’s specifications accessed October 4, 2026. Set it on a stable surface with enough room to work around it. Decide whether to mount the GPU horizontally or vertically and which of the tray’s four orientations suits your build. The selected orientation affects how you route cables and position components.
MSI describes the detachable motherboard tray as an open test bench for installing, configuring and validating components outside the chassis. Its product page also describes repositionable front I/O and rotatable mounting brackets. Use the MEG Maestro 900R product page for MSI’s overview. For the exact tray-release sequence, fasteners and cable routes, follow the case manual; do not force a tray or bracket if it does not move as expected.

Build and test the system on the tray
- Prepare the motherboard. On a clear, stable work surface, install the CPU, memory and M.2 storage according to their manufacturers’ instructions. Fit the CPU cooler at the stage its instructions require; a large air cooler may be easier to handle before the board is inside the case.
- Remove the tray using the manual’s procedure. Place it on a protected work surface and install the motherboard using the correct standoffs and screws. Do not guess at the tray fasteners or removal method.
- Connect the core components. Attach the required motherboard and CPU power, cooler power and any storage connections needed for an initial check. Add the graphics card if your planned test setup supports it securely.
- Perform an initial hardware check. Start the system following the motherboard’s instructions and confirm it reaches the expected startup state. Check that the memory and storage are detected in firmware where applicable. This is a practical validation step, not a reported test result for a particular configuration.
- Power down before moving parts. Shut down and disconnect power before installing or changing components. Keep the tray and board supported while handling them.
Install the tray, cooling and graphics card
- Choose and install one of the four tray orientations. Refit the tray as directed by the manual. Plan cable paths for that orientation rather than routing cables before deciding how the tray will sit.
- Install the power supply and cooling hardware. Check the 200 mm PSU-length limit and confirm that radiator, fan and other component clearances work together in your actual arrangement.
- Mount the GPU in the chosen position. For horizontal mounting, confirm card clearance and support. For vertical mounting, use the included bracket and PCIe 5.0 riser cable as described by MSI, and ensure the card and riser are seated and secured according to the case and motherboard instructions.
- Route cables and connect storage. Keep wiring clear of fans and moving parts. Check that power connectors are fully seated and that storage devices have the required data and power connections.
Connect the front I/O and check USB-C support
MSI lists four USB-A ports, four 10 Gbps USB-C ports and one 20 Gbps USB-C port on the case. Connect the case’s front-panel, USB and audio leads to the matching motherboard headers using both manuals; header names and locations vary by motherboard.
Recommended Free Tools
The 20 Gbps Type-C port’s advertised Power Delivery of up to 60 W depends on a supported motherboard. MSI names X870E, X670E, Z890 and Z790 MEG-series support models on its product page. Confirm the exact motherboard and header capability before expecting that power-delivery function; the case port specification alone does not establish compatibility.

Run final checks before closing the build
- Confirm the motherboard, GPU, CPU cooler and PSU are secured, with no cable obstructing a fan.
- Check that the GPU and, if used, the riser connection are seated and secured.
- Start the system and confirm it reaches the expected startup state; check firmware for detected memory and storage.
- Verify that the connected front I/O ports work with compatible devices, and test audio if connected.
- Shut down and disconnect power before correcting a loose connection or changing cable routing. Close the chassis only after the components and cables are clear and the system starts as expected.
MSI announced the MEG MAESTRO 900R on July 9, 2026, alongside the MEG CORELIQUID E15 360. That announcement does not make that cooler necessary for a build; select cooling based on your own component dimensions and layout.
