For a melee-focused Hero Tale build in version 1.4.18, prioritize Divine Immunity and Onrush early, then invest toward critical-strike rate through Crit Master. Build around the melee tree rather than splitting points with ranged skills, and add health and defense as enemies begin to punish close-range combat. These are third-party guide recommendations, not an official developer ranking or a tested damage comparison.
Start with Divine Immunity and Onrush
Pocket Gamer’s guide, updated October 5, 2026 for version 1.4.18, recommends taking Divine Immunity and Onrush early. It says Divine Immunity boosts defense by 10%, including stats gained from equipment. Treat that figure as the guide’s description of the skill, not an independently verified game-data calculation. The guide describes Onrush as letting attacks charge while your character searches for the next opponent, which can reduce pauses during farming.

Once those early priorities are in place, start allocating toward critical-strike rate through Crit Master. The guide presents its full skill-tree route in screenshots, so the available written information does not establish a reliable node-by-node sequence beyond these priorities.

Balance melee damage with survival
Critical rate and critical multiplier are the offensive core in FinalBoss’s separate endgame recommendation. It advises clustering adjacent melee-critical nodes, then adding health, armor, regeneration, and protection nodes to survive bosses. This is a second guide’s build advice, not a controlled comparison or an official meta.

- For faster farming: Onrush is intended to reduce downtime between opponents, while critical-strike investment supports the offensive route.
- For boss attempts: Add survivability when close-range encounters become difficult to endure; more offensive nodes are not useful if you cannot stay in the fight.
Do not treat the melee and ranged trees as interchangeable. Both guides recommend focusing skill points rather than splitting them between melee and ranged routes. Melee also requires attention to enemy proximity and defensive timing: FinalBoss recommends attacking between enemy tells and using block or dodge windows instead of trading hits.
Pocket Gamer reports that developers reworked blocking and that melee consequently became more potent. That is the guide’s account; the sources available here do not include official patch notes confirming the change.

Plan for a late-game build
Pocket Gamer presents its completed melee tree at roughly level 188 and shows an earlier checkpoint around level 65. These are guide milestones, not required level thresholds. Hero Tale is an idle RPG with melee, ranged, and magic weapons, skills to level, and equipment to upgrade, according to its Steam listing.
Use the early checkpoint to orient your first investments, then continue toward the critical-focused tree and add defense as progression demands. The level-188 endpoint signals that the guide’s full setup is a late-game plan rather than a build that comes online immediately.

Target melee equipment and reported sources
Pocket Gamer names the following equipment targets and acquisition routes for version 1.4.18. Shop stock and drops can change with updates, so check current in-game availability before committing to a long farm.
| Equipment | Reported source | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Carapean set | Barnaba’s Shop at Deamon Market, or a reward for defeating Deamon Mercenary | Two reported routes; confirm current availability in-game. |
| Daemon Dagger | Barnaba’s Shop at Deamon Market | Shop acquisition reported by the guide. |
| Enchanted Shield | Drop from Monstrous Skeleton at the Graveyard | The guide warns that farming may take time. |
| Enchanted Sword | Drop from Necromancer in Shadow Temple | The guide describes this as potentially a long farm. |
A second guide recommends pairing an offensive melee setup with a defensive ring, but it does not provide a specific ring name or acquisition route. Treat that as a general survivability suggestion rather than a defined gear target.

What this build advice does—and does not—establish
The recommendations reflect two third-party guides for version 1.4.18, including Pocket Gamer’s update dated October 5, 2026 and FinalBoss’s endgame article dated July 6, 2026. They provide qualitative skill and gear advice, not numerical damage rankings, verified skill calculations, or firsthand test results. Use the route as a progression framework and adjust toward defense if close-range survival is the obstacle.
