How to Build a Disney Lorcana Hyperia City Deck

A practical early guide to Hyperia City deckbuilding: Sealed rules, Coco glimmers, ink-drop decisions, Intense Research, and how to tune a deck without mistaking theory for tournament results.

For a Hyperia City prerelease, build a 40-card Sealed deck from six booster packs, choose a plan your pool can support, and treat ink drops as a timing tool—not as a reason to include cards that do not work without them. Ravensburger scheduled prerelease events for October 16, 2026, and general availability for October 23, 2026. As of October 13, there is no post-release tournament record that establishes a best constructed list or ink combination.

This guide focuses on prerelease Sealed and explains how to approach constructed deckbuilding separately. The set’s Coco music theme and ink-drop mechanic offer useful starting points, but they do not prove that a particular archetype or card lineup is strongest.

Start by choosing the format

“A Hyperia City deck” can mean different things. The format determines what cards you can use and what deckbuilding rules apply, so decide that before sorting your cards or tuning a list.

Format What Ravensburger specifies What that means for your build
Prerelease Sealed Use six booster packs to build a 40-card deck. All six inks are permitted, and the four-glimmer-per-deck restriction does not apply. Build from the cards you open. You can consider cards from every ink, but permission to use all six is not a reason to play all six: choose inks that let your pool work coherently.
Pack Rush Two boosters, a 24-card deck, and 15 lore to win. This is a different, smaller format. Do not transfer Sealed deck-size assumptions to it.
Constructed The prerelease guide’s six-pack, 40-card rules do not establish constructed deck size or a constructed list. Name the constructed format you intend to play, then check its current deckbuilding rules and card legality before choosing a list.

For a prerelease event, use the event’s stated format and the official Sealed rules. A recommendation for constructed play cannot be inferred from the Sealed card pool: constructed requires a separate format and legality check.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

These distinctions matter even if you have played other Lorcana formats. A Sealed pool is limited to what came out of your six packs, while a constructed deck uses the rules and card pool for its named format. Pack Rush has its own two-booster setup, smaller deck, and 15-lore objective. Do not borrow a deck size, copy assumption, or card restriction from one format simply because the same set is involved.

Understand what ink drops change

Ravensburger describes ink drops as a one-time-use ink resource. They can pay for cards or empower card effects, and can be spent on the turn they are created. That makes each drop a decision about timing: use it now for board presence, save the opportunity for a more consequential play, or use it to improve a specific effect.

The publisher’s prerelease guide offers two broad lines: spend a drop early to get character glimmers onto the board sooner, or save resources to deploy a high-cost card ahead of schedule. Neither is automatically correct. The right choice depends on the board, the cards available, and what the extra resource changes on that turn.

  • Ask what the drop costs to generate. A resource is not free simply because it can later pay for something. Consider the card or action you used to create it and what you gave up by doing so.
  • Ask what changes if you spend it now. Does it put a character into play, make an important card affordable, or improve an effect? If the answer is only “I have an extra resource,” the timing may not matter enough.
  • Ask whether the payoff is worth depending on. If a card becomes better when a drop is removed, compare that improved effect with what you could do by spending the drop elsewhere.
  • Check whether the card still functions without a drop. The mechanic is one-use, so a deck should not assume that every ink-drop payoff will always receive one.

Lead Game Designer Lukas Litzsinger said in Ravensburger’s September 22, 2026 announcement: “Ink drops can completely change the tempo of a game.” Treat “tempo” as the practical question: does the resource let you make a relevant play earlier or improve an effect at a moment that matters?

A useful way to evaluate a drop is to compare the turn you get with it against the turn you would have had without it. If spending it produces a character earlier, consider whether that earlier presence helps your board plan. If you hold it for a high-cost card, consider whether moving that play forward is more valuable than using the resource on a smaller play now. If a card’s text improves when a drop is removed, compare that improvement with both alternatives. This is a decision, not a fixed sequence you must follow every game.

Because drops are spent once, avoid building a plan that treats the same resource as if it can pay for multiple future benefits. Track which card creates a drop, when it becomes available, and which action or effect actually consumes it. The official description says a drop can be spent on the turn it is created; check the individual card text and official clarifications for the exact interaction you are considering rather than assuming every drop-generating card works identically.

Use Coco’s music theme as a hypothesis, not a finished archetype

Hyperia City is the first set to bring Disney and Pixar’s Coco glimmers into the game. Ravensburger says those glimmers are interested in music and singing and recommends using their tuneful and harmonizing abilities. That is a set-specific clue for a first deckbuilding experiment, not evidence that a particular Coco deck is dominant.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When your pool contains several cards whose text supports music or singing, look at how they work together rather than treating every card with the theme as an automatic inclusion. Ask whether one card helps you use another’s ability, whether the package can contribute to your plan when you do not draw every piece, and whether those cards leave enough room for the rest of the deck to function.

Ravensburger’s prerelease guide describes Coco glimmers as “interested in music and singing.” Use that theme to form a plan you can test: build around the relevant abilities when your available cards support them, and be willing to change direction when they do not.

For Sealed, the practical question is not “Is Coco the best deck?” but “Does my pool contain enough mutually useful cards to try the music-and-singing direction?” Read the abilities on the cards you opened. If those cards support one another and still let you make useful plays when the full package is not assembled, the theme may be a sensible starting plan. If your pool does not support it, do not force the theme just because it is new or prominent in the set announcement.

Build a Sealed deck from the cards you actually opened

In Sealed, the six packs define your options. Since all six inks are allowed, the challenge is not to choose a fashionable combination before opening packs; it is to identify which cards form the most workable plan in your pool. The steps below provide a repeatable way to make that decision without assuming access to a particular card or archetype.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Lay out the full pool and read the card text. Sort cards by ink, then mark the cards whose abilities support one another, including music-related cards and cards that create or use ink drops. Do not rely on a spoiler description if the printed card or official clarification says something different.
  2. Identify the plan your strongest group of cards can support. A music- and singing-oriented approach is worth exploring when your opened Coco glimmers point that way. Otherwise, choose the plan your pool actually enables. A theme is useful only if the cards available can carry it through a game.
  3. Separate ordinary plays from ink-drop cards. Note which cards generate drops, which cards can spend one, and which cards become more effective when one is removed. This makes it easier to see whether you have a functional deck or merely a collection of cards that would be strong if the mechanic lined up.
  4. Compare the two main timing uses. For each drop, consider whether spending it early advances your board or whether holding back would make a higher-cost play possible sooner. Use the card text and the state of the game to decide; do not treat one timing line as a rule.
  5. Check how the deck plays without a perfect draw. Consider what happens when you do not draw a drop generator, do not have a payoff in hand, or draw the payoff without a drop available. If the deck’s plan stops working in those cases, reconsider how many cards depend on the interaction.
  6. Make the final 40-card selection under Sealed rules. All six inks are permitted, but a smaller set of inks may make the deck easier to operate. The four-glimmer-per-deck restriction does not apply to this Sealed format; that exception is a rule, not a recommendation to include extra copies without regard to your plan.

Before you settle on the final selection, ask a few practical questions about the pool. Which cards can contribute to the plan without another specific card? Which ink-drop cards have a clear use in the same deck? Does a card’s improved effect justify spending a drop, or is the drop more useful elsewhere? A card that is appealing in isolation may be less helpful if the rest of the pool cannot support what it is asking you to do.

In Sealed, it can be tempting to use many inks because the rules allow all six. Treat that permission as flexibility, not a requirement. Your actual choices still need to work together: consider whether your selected cards provide a coherent way to use the resources and effects in the pool, and whether adding another ink contributes enough to justify its place. The official guide gives the deck size and ink allowance, but it does not prescribe an ink combination for your particular packs.

Do not treat the Sealed rules as a hidden constructed template. Six packs and 40 cards describe the prerelease Sealed build; they do not establish a constructed deck size, card count, or winning list.

Evaluate an ink-drop payoff: Intense Research

The official card gallery provides a concrete example of how a drop can change a card’s effect. Intense Research is a Sapphire action costing 2 and is inkable. The gallery lists it as Rare and marks it legal in Core Constructed and Infinity. Its text reads: “Look at the top 2 cards of your deck, then put one into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your deck in any order. If you removed an ink drop to play this action, look at the top 5 cards of your deck instead.”

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The card shows why a deckbuilder should assess both the baseline card and the enhanced version. Without removing a drop, it looks at two cards; with a drop removed to play it, it looks at five. That is a larger selection, but the correct decision still depends on the drop’s alternative use, the cards you need, and the rest of your turn. Its existence is an example of an ink-drop payoff, not proof that it belongs in every Sapphire deck or every Hyperia City build.

When you review a card like this, separate what is guaranteed from what depends on the mechanic. The printed baseline effect is part of the card even when you do not remove a drop; the larger look is conditional on removing one to play the action. Then decide whether that conditional benefit matters for your current position. The example is useful because it illustrates the mechanic clearly, not because it establishes a universal rule to spend a drop whenever a card offers a better effect.

Intense Research also makes a good rules-checking example. The official gallery identifies it as an inkable Sapphire action with cost 2, Rare rarity, and Core Constructed and Infinity legality. Those facts describe this card specifically. They do not establish that other Hyperia City cards share its color, cost, rarity, legality, or interaction, and they do not settle whether the action belongs in a particular deck.

Before explaining a specific interaction, check the card’s current wording and Ravensburger’s Hyperia City release notes. Those notes contain set-specific clarifications and corrections, which matter when an early spoiler or informal description differs from the official ruling.

For constructed play, verify legality before settling on a list

Hyperia City was scheduled for general availability on October 23, 2026. At the time of this guide, it has not yet reached that date, so there is no post-release event record establishing a best-performing Core Constructed deck, strongest ink combination, reliable matchup plan, or proven list.

If you are preparing a constructed deck, first decide which format you intend to play and check its current rules and card legality. The official card gallery lists Intense Research as legal in Core Constructed and Infinity, but that card-specific listing is not a complete legality check for a whole deck. Do not turn a Sealed recommendation or one card’s legality into a constructed list without verifying the format.

With no proven Hyperia City list to copy, treat a constructed build as a theorycraft or starting point. A reasonable first experiment is to test the music-and-singing direction Ravensburger highlights, if the relevant cards support it, and to map ink-drop generators to the cards that benefit from them. Keep the ordinary plan functional when the resource interaction does not appear. No event results establish a particular card count, ink combination, matchup advantage, or win rate.

That does not mean you cannot start building before general availability. It means you should label the result honestly: it is a first hypothesis based on the cards and official set information available to you, not a tested competitive recommendation. Check the format’s current legality rules when you make the list, and revisit them as new cards, clarifications, and event results become available. A single card’s entry in the gallery is a useful specific check, not a substitute for checking every card in a complete deck.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Adjust the deck after games, one problem at a time

Early games are useful when you record what actually happened instead of merely deciding that a card “felt bad.” After each game, note the opening hand, the cards that stayed stranded, whether an ink drop changed your available play, and whether you could continue your main plan when the mechanic did not line up.

  • Opening hands do not support the plan: identify which kinds of cards were missing and whether the deck relies too heavily on one part of its theme or resource engine. Make a focused adjustment rather than replacing several unrelated cards at once.
  • Cards remain in hand: check whether they were too dependent on an ink drop, whether the drop arrived at the wrong time, or whether the deck lacked a useful setup for them. A payoff that rarely becomes usable may not justify its place in the build.
  • Generating a drop does not change the turn: compare the resource’s cost with the play it enabled. If the extra resource repeatedly fails to advance the board or improve an effect at a useful moment, try a different timing choice or reduce dependence on that line.
  • The deck works only when several pieces appear together: test whether the supporting cards can make useful plays independently. If not, simplify the plan so the deck can still function when it draws only part of the package.
  • A card interaction is unclear: check the official card text and Hyperia City release notes before changing the deck around an assumed interaction.

Change one small group of cards, then play again and compare notes. That does not turn a few local games into a competitive result, but it helps separate a real deckbuilding issue from a single unusual draw.

A simple game log can make those adjustments more concrete. Record which cards you drew early, whether you had a drop available when a payoff appeared, what you spent the drop on, and whether that choice changed the play you could make. Also note when a card sat in your hand because its condition was not met. After several games, look for a repeated pattern rather than treating one awkward hand as proof that the whole plan is wrong.

When you change the list, write down the problem you are trying to solve and adjust only a small group of cards tied to that issue. Then play again and compare. For example, if a payoff repeatedly arrives without a drop, test whether the deck needs fewer cards that depend on one or more drop interactions. If drops are available but do not improve your turn, test a different timing choice or reconsider whether that line earns its deck space. These are questions to test in your own games, not claims about a known Hyperia City matchup or success rate.

Getting cards for a first build

Hyperia City booster packs are a natural way to start a Sealed event or explore the set, but their contents are randomized. Opening packs is not a reliable way to obtain a particular card for a specific constructed list. If you already know the exact cards you want to try, singles may be a more direct option; if you are playing prerelease Sealed, use the cards in the event pool rather than planning around cards you might open.

Ravensburger scheduled general availability for October 23, 2026. Check current retailer stock and regional availability with a trading-card retailer or local game store, since availability can vary. Compare the cost of randomized packs with the price of the particular singles you need before deciding how to acquire cards. No specific retailer, price, affiliate offer, or stock status is established here.

What can and cannot be concluded before release

The set guidance supports an early building process: choose the format, explore the Coco music theme when your cards support it, and decide carefully when an ink drop is worth spending. It does not establish a best constructed list, strongest ink combination, matchup guidance, tested inclusion rates, or win percentage. Those claims require post-release results or documented play data.

For a prerelease, use the six-pack, 40-card Sealed framework and make the best plan your opened pool allows. For constructed, verify the format and card legality, then treat any pre-release list as an experiment rather than an established recommendation.

Can a Hyperia City Sealed deck use all six inks?

Yes. The official prerelease guide permits all six inks in Sealed. That is permission, not a recommendation to play all six; choose the cards and inks that make your opened pool work coherently.

What is an ink drop in Disney Lorcana Hyperia City?

Ravensburger describes ink drops as a one-time-use ink resource. They can pay for cards or empower effects, and can be spent on the turn they are created. Check the individual card text and official clarifications for specific interactions.

Should I spend an ink drop early or save it?

It depends on the board and the cards available. Ravensburger’s prerelease guide suggests spending one early to establish characters or saving resources to play a high-cost card sooner. A card-specific payoff, such as Intense Research, may offer another use. Compare what each option changes on that turn.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is Coco music and singing a proven Hyperia City deck?

No established tournament results prove a dominant Coco list at this early stage. Ravensburger highlights Coco glimmers’ interest in music and singing and recommends exploring their tuneful and harmonizing abilities. Treat that as a starting hypothesis when your cards support it.

Does Intense Research belong in every Sapphire deck?

No. It is an official example of an ink-drop payoff, not a universal recommendation. It costs 2, is inkable, and looks at the top two cards—or the top five if you removed an ink drop to play it. Whether it fits depends on the deck and the resource’s other uses.

When does Hyperia City release?

Ravensburger scheduled prerelease events for October 16, 2026, and general availability for October 23, 2026. At this guide’s October 13, 2026 vantage point, post-release tournament results were not yet available.

Should I buy booster packs or singles to build a deck?

Boosters are randomized and are useful for opening a Sealed pool or exploring the set. If you already know the exact cards you want for constructed, singles may be more direct. Check current retailer stock and regional availability before buying.

The Bottom Line

For Hyperia City Sealed, start with six packs and build a 40-card deck around the plan your pool can actually support. Explore Coco’s music theme when the cards point that way, and treat every ink drop as a one-time timing choice: spend it early, save it for a higher-cost play, or use it to improve an effect only when that use is worth the trade-off. For constructed, verify the format and legality, then test a theory rather than assuming there is already a proven list.
