How to Build a 24/7 Recorded Calculus Lessons Channel on YouTube

A practical guide to looping recorded calculus lessons on YouTube, from OBS and stream keys to copyright, archives, and cloud playback.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can run a continuous YouTube channel from recorded calculus lessons by connecting an encoder to YouTube Live and looping a carefully organized library. For a do-it-yourself setup, OBS can loop a single video or a playlist—but your computer, internet connection, and power must stay available. To avoid using a computer as the playback host, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Whichever route you choose, check live-stream eligibility, protect the rights to every asset, and publish individual lesson videos as well as the continuous stream.

Plan the lesson rotation before you stream

Build a library for learners, not just a long loop

Organize recordings into a clear sequence, such as limits and continuity, derivatives, applications of derivatives, integrals, and series. Give each lesson a specific title, level, prerequisites, and suggested next lesson. Include worked examples, pauses for practice, and recaps; use varied explanations and examples rather than repeating minimally changed slides.

Add a brief opening card or persistent label identifying the lesson currently playing and where viewers can find the full sequence. A viewer may arrive at any point in a 24/7 rotation, so provide enough context to make the lesson understandable without a scheduled start.

Use material you can broadcast

Record your own lessons or obtain the rights to broadcast the material. Check music, images, textbook excerpts, graphics, and any other third-party material—not just the main lecture recording. Owning your slides does not by itself settle YouTube’s separate monetization review.

Check YouTube Live eligibility and create the stream

  1. Enable live streaming early. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the planned launch. See YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance.
  2. Create or schedule a broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Use the live-stream setup flow to obtain the server URL and stream key for your encoder; YouTube’s encoder instructions explain the connection.
  3. Keep the stream key private. Enter it only in the encoder or streaming service you control. A stream key lets that encoder send video to your broadcast.
  4. Preview before going public. Confirm that the correct lesson is playing, sound is clear, the lesson label is legible, and the broadcast appears as expected in YouTube’s preview before publishing.

YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance, accessed in 2026, lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. These matter if you intend to run multiple broadcasts concurrently; check the current guidance for the applicable setup details.

Loop recorded lessons with OBS

OBS is a local-encoder option: it sends a video feed from your computer to YouTube, so that computer and its network connection need to remain available for the stream to continue. OBS documents both a single-file Media Source and a VLC playlist source in its Media Sources guide.

  1. Prepare the files. Put the cleared, final lesson recordings in an easy-to-find folder. Decide the rotation order and use filenames that make it simple to verify which lesson is playing.
  2. Add the source in OBS. For one recording, add a Media Source and select the video file. Enable its Loop option. For a rotation of multiple recordings, add a VLC Video Source, create the playlist in the desired order, and enable Loop Playlist.
  3. Build a simple scene. Show the lesson video or screen capture and a readable course or lesson label. A static notice that the channel is playing recorded lessons can help set viewer expectations. Keep labels and overlays away from equations and other essential content.
  4. Connect OBS to YouTube. Enter the server URL and stream key from the broadcast setup in OBS’s streaming settings, then start the stream and check the YouTube preview before making it public.
  5. Test the complete cycle. Check playlist order, transitions, sound levels, text legibility, and what happens when playback reaches the end and restarts. Keep a plan for restarting OBS and reconnecting after a computer reboot or network interruption.

OBS cautions that meeting its basic requirements does not guarantee streaming performance. CPU load depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Test the actual scene and settings on the computer that will run the channel; its system requirements guide explains the limits of hardware guidance.

Choose a presentation that keeps equations readable

Preview the full frame on both desktop and phone-sized screens. A portrait crop can cut off equations or writing near the edges; YouTube’s current help distinguishes horizontal and vertical live experiences, so check the layout you intend to use rather than assuming one framing works everywhere. A pen tablet with a stylus is optional for writing digital derivations; use an existing tablet, document camera, or other setup if it already produces legible solutions. A separate microphone is also optional for narrated lessons.

Choose local or cloud playback

Approach What it changes What to plan for
OBS on a local computer You control the playlist and scene in OBS, which can loop a file or playlist. The computer, power, and network must stay available. Plan for restarts, backups, and monitoring.
Cloud playback with StreamNeo StreamNeo plays uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube, so your computer does not have to host playback. Upload the recordings, add the YouTube stream key, and start the stream. Review the service and its terms for your needs.

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded recordings; it does not stream from a camera. It is #1 as a way to keep this recorded YouTube stream running because playback stays in the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. Details are at StreamNeo.

Or let it run in the cloud

  1. Upload your recorded calculus lesson or build a playlist.
  2. Add your YouTube stream key once.
  3. Go live; StreamNeo loops the recordings from the cloud.

Nothing has to stay on at home. Your videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

Keep the stream original and rights-cleared

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. Its copyright guidance says a detected match may lead YouTube to replace the picture, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. If you have a license for material, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID for live use, and keep permission records.

Monetization is a separate question from whether you can broadcast. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to livestreams and emphasize original, authentic content rather than mass-produced or repetitive material. YouTube says review may consider the channel’s overall theme, most-viewed and newest videos, metadata, and About section. A repeated loop is not automatically a monetization guarantee: make the lessons meaningfully useful and original, and describe the channel accurately.

Archive individual lessons separately

YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on one continuous broadcast longer than that to leave a complete replay. Keep clean local masters and upload individual public lessons with useful titles, descriptions, chapters, and playlists so learners can find a topic directly and you can replace or revise a lesson without rebuilding the whole rotation.

YouTube says public archived livestreams can count toward qualified watch hours, while streams that are not archived do not. That does not by itself establish eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program; qualification remains subject to YouTube’s broader rules and review. See YouTube’s qualified watch-hours guidance.

Troubleshoot common failures

  • You cannot start a live stream: Confirm the channel is verified, live-streaming is enabled, activation time has passed if this is the first stream, and there is no live-stream restriction from the preceding 90 days.
  • YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Check that the server URL and stream key match the intended broadcast, and that the key has not been exposed or replaced. Re-enter the current details from YouTube Studio if needed.
  • The lesson stops instead of repeating: Check that Loop is enabled on a Media Source, or Loop Playlist is enabled for a VLC playlist source. Test the end of the file and the transition back to the start before publishing.
  • Playback stutters or OBS struggles: Reduce scene complexity or the selected resolution or frame rate, then test again on the actual streaming computer. OBS performance depends on encoder and system load; meeting basic requirements alone is not a guarantee.
  • The stream is interrupted or replaced: Review YouTube’s copyright notices and identify any third-party material in the broadcast. Remove it or resolve permissions with the rights holder, including any Content ID allowlisting requirement for live use.
  • There is no complete replay: Check the stream duration and archive status. YouTube’s stated automatic archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours; maintain separate lesson masters and uploads rather than depending on a longer continuous stream as your sole archive.
