To run a different devotional playlist each day, organize the videos in YouTube Studio, then use an encoder or hosted scheduler to send the chosen playlist to a YouTube live broadcast. Playlists alone do not create a continuous livestream, and YouTube does not automatically switch ordinary playlists on a daily timetable.
How the pieces fit together
Think of the setup as two connected systems: a content library and a delivery workflow. Your daily playlists organize the devotional videos; an encoder or scheduling service plays the selected content into a live feed. In YouTube’s Live model, a liveStream carries the feed and a liveBroadcast is the viewer-facing event. YouTube documents a 24/7 pattern in which a continuing feed can be associated with a broadcast, but something outside the playlist itself must supply and rotate the content. Build the devotional schedule and content library
1. Decide what each day contains
Choose whether the stream consists of pre-recorded videos, live segments, or a mix. Check the delivery service’s limits before planning a mixed schedule: Restream says its scheduled playlist feature cannot combine live and pre-recorded content in the same playlist.

In YouTube Studio, create playlists with consistent names such as “Monday Morning Prayer,” “Tuesday Scripture Reflection,” and “Sunday Worship.” Add videos in the intended playback order, and use descriptions that make the theme and schedule clear to viewers. 3. Keep a master schedule
Maintain a separate schedule that records which playlist should be on air, when the daily change occurs, and who is responsible for checking it. A playlist is an organizational list, not a timed broadcast rule. The encoder or scheduler needs an explicit instruction to play each day’s material.
Choose how to deliver the playlists
For a self-managed setup, configure an encoder or playback system to send the selected content to YouTube’s live stream. This offers hands-on control but means the operator must manage the equipment, schedule, and feed. A hosted scheduler can handle pre-recorded delivery without a local encoder running continuously, subject to the provider’s plan, duration, storage, and transition limits.

Hosted-service limits to check
OneStream Live documents a 24/7 workflow that requires its Enterprise plan, is YouTube-only, and has a maximum duration of 30 days. Restream documents scheduled playlists on paid Upload & Stream tiers, with up to 24 hours and 40 videos per playlist; it says back-to-back playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer. That buffer means its documented setup does not establish a gap-free 24/7 stream by itself. Confirm current plan names and limits with each provider before committing.

- Prepare the videos. Confirm every file plays correctly and is in the intended order. Keep the playlist names and your master schedule aligned.
- Set up the YouTube live workflow. Create or configure the live broadcast and its stream feed in YouTube Studio or through the chosen service. YouTube’s API treats the feed and the viewer-facing broadcast as related but distinct resources; do not assume creating a playlist starts either one.
- Connect the delivery method. In a self-managed workflow, configure the encoder to send the selected playlist’s video and audio to the YouTube feed. In a hosted workflow, select YouTube as the destination and schedule the corresponding playlist according to the vendor’s current instructions.
- Define the changeover. Set a clear daily change time and make the next playlist explicit. Do not rely on YouTube to rotate ordinary playlists automatically.
- Run a transition test. Observe the end of one block and start of the next. Check for a gap, black screen, unintended stream restart, wrong playlist, or missing audio; correct the schedule or playback configuration before relying on it.
- Decide on viewer controls and archives. Choose whether viewers should have DVR controls and whether you need a replay after the live broadcast. YouTube’s broadcast settings include archive and DVR behavior, but long-running streams need special planning for VOD.
Plan for archives and DVR
Google’s live-production guidance says streams up to 12 hours automatically become VOD. For a stream longer than 12 hours, it advises recording separately and manually uploading the recording if you want an archive. Decide in advance whether you need one replay, daily replays, or no archive, and verify the relevant broadcast settings. YouTube Help: Live streaming tips

For hosted delivery, ask whether the service creates an archive and whether its retention and access meet your needs. The documented plan descriptions cited here do not establish archive behavior for every service or plan.
Clear music and video rights before going live
A license for congregational singing or lyric display should not be assumed to cover a 24/7 recording. Google advises confirming clearances for livestreaming, rebroadcast, and on-demand audio or video, including whether performance rights cover live use, archive use, or both. Video footage can require separate permission from its copyright owner.

CCLI’s US information distinguishes its Streaming License, which covers authorized worship music performed live during online services, from Streaming Plus, which extends coverage to authorized master recordings and multitracks. CCLI also says an archive may be covered while the license remains active, while video content usually needs permission from the relevant copyright owners. Keep these checks in your operating routine
- Confirm the day’s playlist matches the master schedule and contains the intended videos in order.
- Check that the live feed is active and playing the correct video and audio.
- Review the upcoming handoff for a gap or unintended restart, particularly when using separately scheduled streams.
- Keep rights records for compositions, recordings, video, live use, and any archive or monetization plan.
- Review the current service plan and platform guidance when limits, pricing, or licensing terms could affect the schedule.
