To move legacy World App assets from Optimism, use the migration flow inside World App when it appears. For other transfers, choose a bridge only after its current interface confirms support for your exact token, source and destination networks, and direction. Past announcements naming Synapse, Across, and Superbridge are not proof that a route is available today.
Choose the right transfer method
World Chain is an Ethereum layer-2 network and the primary network World App interacts with. World’s developer FAQ also notes that legacy bridged WLD exists on Optimism. That distinction matters: moving legacy World App assets from Optimism is an in-app migration, while moving assets from another wallet or chain is a general bridge transaction.

Legacy assets in World App on Optimism
If World App presents a migration prompt for assets on Optimism, follow that flow and tap Start migration. World’s Help Center says migration takes minutes and explains that assets sent over Optimism after migration can be migrated if the app later presents the flow. Use World Chain for future transactions as the Help Center advises. See World’s migration instructions.
Assets in another wallet or on another network
Use a third-party bridge only if its live interface supports the precise token, source network, destination World Chain, and direction you need. Do not treat the Optimism migration prompt as a general-purpose bridge or assume that a bridge supports a route because it did so in the past.

Check a bridge route before sending
- Select the source and destination. Set the network where your asset is now as the source and World Chain as the destination. Confirm the direction explicitly; an inbound route does not establish that the reverse route is available.
- Select the exact asset. Match the token and network, not just its ticker or name. For WLD, compare the contract and network details shown by the bridge with a trusted current explorer or bridge interface.
- Confirm the receiving wallet supports that token on World Chain. In World App, the Help Center’s instructions for receiving a supported token are to choose Receive, select the token, then select World Chain to create a receiving QR code or address. Check World’s current supported-token list before sending; it can change. See World’s instructions for receiving crypto and its supported-token list.
- Review the full quote and transaction details. Check the total displayed cost, any minimum or maximum, estimated completion time, destination, token, and amount. These values depend on the route and may change; there is no universal fee or transfer time established for the services discussed here.
- Approve only after checking every field. Blockchain transactions are not readily reversible. World warns that unsupported deposits or incorrect networks can result in permanent loss.
What World has said about named bridges
World has announced integrations involving Synapse, Across, and Superbridge, but these announcements are dated and do not establish current availability, fees, limits, or timing. Treat them as examples of providers World has named, not as a current route recommendation.

Verify WLD’s network and token identity
WLD is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, and World’s tokenomics whitepaper identifies a World Chain representation. It lists these published contract addresses:

Use those as identifiers to compare, not as a substitute for verification on a trusted current explorer or bridge interface. A ticker alone cannot tell you whether you are selecting the intended network representation. The whitepaper cautions that the Foundation and its affiliates are not responsible for third-party bridges or tokens bridged through them.

Understand which costs may apply
World’s developer FAQ says World App users generally do not currently pay gas for specified in-app actions because TFH funds those costs, and notes that this may change. That statement is limited to the described World App activity; it does not establish the cost of an independent bridge. For a third-party transfer, rely on the costs shown in that bridge’s current quote and the transaction wallet’s confirmation screen.
