To boost a Discord server, open the server, select its name, choose Server Boost, then select Boost This Server and follow the confirmation prompts. A server needs 2 boosts for Level 1, 7 for Level 2, and 14 for Level 3, according to Discord’s Server Boosting FAQ, updated September 14, 2026.
How to apply a boost
- Open the Discord server you want to support.
- Select the server name in the top-left corner.
- Choose Server Boost.
- Select Boost This Server.
- If Discord asks, choose an available boost or continue through the purchase flow, then complete the confirmation prompts.
You can move a boost to a different server after a seven-day cooldown; it cannot be transferred immediately. Discord’s FAQ describes this transfer rule.

Nitro, included boosts, and buying more
Nitro includes two Server Boosts, according to Discord’s “What are Nitro & Nitro Basic?” help article, updated September 29, 2026. Discord’s Server Boosting FAQ says Nitro subscribers and Nitro Classic subscribers receive a 30% discount on additional boost purchases. Nitro Basic includes neither boosts nor that discount.

Allocate boosts to a level or an additional perk
Boosts assigned to a server level cannot also count toward a separately allocated perk. Discord lists Server Tags and Enhanced Role Styles at three boosts each, using boosts not already allocated to server levels. Server owners and admins can review and manage allocations in the Server Boosts tab on desktop.

If you are managing the server, open Server Boosts to see what is available and assign boosts to eligible features. Check the live interface before relying on a particular perk: Discord says perk requirements and availability can change. Its Game Servers help article also notes that boost requirements for perks are reviewed and adjusted.

What happens if boosts are removed
Different perks have different consequences when a server loses boosts:
- Level perks: Discord gives a 72-hour grace period after the server drops a level. After that, the level perks become temporarily invalid until the level is regained.
- Separately allocated perks: Features such as Server Tags and Enhanced Role Styles are disabled immediately if their required boosts are removed or reallocated.
- Custom invite link: Discord says a link from a lost perk may become available to another server after 30 days.

Using boosts for a game server
Discord’s Game Servers help article says admins can use available boosts to enable a game server; users may also subscribe directly in the Shop. Because Discord reviews and adjusts the boost requirements, check the current requirement shown in Discord before allocating boosts. A game server cannot be disabled within seven days of its creation, according to that help article.
