On a computer, open the page you want to save and select the bookmark control beside Chrome’s address bar. You can then find it in the bookmarks bar, search for it from the address bar, or manage it in Bookmark Manager. Importing and exporting bookmarks uses an HTML file and is done on desktop.

  1. Open the webpage in Chrome.

  2. Select the bookmark control to the right of the address bar.

Google says a bookmark deleted on desktop cannot be recovered through that interface. Check that you have selected the right entry before deleting it. See Google’s computer bookmark guidance.

Bookmark pages on Android

Open the page, tap More > Bookmarks, and choose a folder or saved item to open it. On the bookmarks page, use search to find an entry. To edit or delete a bookmark, open the item’s menu.

The bookmarks control’s location can vary if Chrome’s address bar is positioned at the bottom. Android tablet controls also have documented limitations, so the desktop bookmarks bar and manager workflow may not map directly to every Android device. Google warns that deleted Android bookmarks cannot be recovered through the described interface. Google’s Android instructions provide the platform-specific controls.

Bookmark pages on iPhone or iPad

Open the page and select More > Bookmarks to view saved pages. Touch and hold an item to edit it. To delete, swipe left on an item or select multiple bookmarks; Google’s iOS instructions say a deletion prompt offers an undo option. See Google’s iPhone and iPad instructions.

Import or export bookmarks on desktop

Chrome uses an HTML file to transfer bookmarks between browsers. If the source browser does not provide an HTML file directly, Google says to export bookmarks from that browser first.

Import an HTML bookmarks file

  1. In Chrome, select More > Bookmarks and lists > Import bookmarks and settings.

  2. Choose the bookmarks HTML file and complete the import dialog.

If Chrome had no bookmarks before the import, the imported entries appear on the bookmarks bar. If it already had bookmarks, Google says the new entries are added to an Other bookmarks folder.

Export Chrome bookmarks

  1. Open Bookmark Manager.

  2. Select More > Export Bookmarks.

  3. Save the HTML file, then use that file when importing bookmarks into another browser.

Follow Google’s import and export instructions for the current dialog labels.

Make bookmarks available across devices

Sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account on each device to make bookmarks available across them, subject to your sync settings. You can manage what Chrome syncs in its sync preferences. Google Chrome Help currently states a capacity of up to 100,000 bookmarks per Google Account; Google does not state a publication year for that figure, so treat it as the help page’s current stated capacity rather than a permanent technical guarantee. If you reach the limit, Google suggests deleting unused bookmarks or exporting them. Google’s Chrome sync guidance explains sync settings and the stated capacity.
