To block Snapchat on a compatible Samsung Galaxy, use Android’s parental controls: open Settings > Parental controls > App limits, select Snapchat, then turn off Allow app. To restrict use without blocking it, set an app time limit instead. How do I block Snapchat on a Samsung phone?

- Turn off Allow app to block access. Google says a blocked app is hidden from All apps.
Google lists Android 17 or later for the on-device workflow described in its Android parental-controls instructions. If your phone runs an earlier version, use Family Link if supported, or check the controls available for your device and software.

Yes. The documented Android control applies to the app you select: turn off Allow app for Snapchat while leaving that setting enabled for other apps. This is different from a web-content filter, which is not an app-launch block. Google says web filtering depends on specified software versions and participating providers, and explicit content may still appear in other apps, on other devices, or in other browsers.

How do I set a Snapchat time limit on my child’s Galaxy?
In the same Settings > Parental controls > App limits area, select Snapchat and set an app time limit rather than turning off Allow app. For parent-managed supervision, use Family Link where the child’s account and device are compatible. Samsung’s Australian setup guide starts on the child’s phone at Settings > Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls > Parental Controls; the parent then manages controls through the Family Link app. The guide is intended for Australian device variants, and its menu names may not match those on every Galaxy.
Why don’t I see Parental controls in Settings?
A missing menu may mean the phone does not meet the requirements for Google’s on-device controls, rather than that you have missed a step. Google’s current instructions require Android 17 or later for this workflow and say it cannot be enabled when the device has multiple profiles, including a work profile or private space. On earlier software, check whether Family Link or the controls for your specific Galaxy are available.

How Samsung Kids and Snapchat Family Center differ
Samsung Kids: a child-focused restricted environment
Samsung Kids lets a guardian configure allowed content and app access, as well as screen-time goals and bedtime. It can be useful for a younger child using a restricted Galaxy environment, but Samsung does not establish one identical Snapchat-specific switch across every Galaxy version. Snapchat Family Center: supervision inside Snapchat
Snapchat Family Center offers teen-supervision features such as time-use visibility and content controls. Snapchat’s listed features do not document Family Center as a way to block the app from launching; use device-level controls for that purpose. These are parent-managed controls. Explain what you are limiting and why, and agree on whether the goal is a complete block or a daily time limit. That makes the chosen setting easier to understand and gives your child a clear route to discuss changes with you.
