Some apps combine those actions, and reporting may remove a match or conversation from view, so save relevant details and read the confirmation before you submit. The steps below cover Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge; menus and effects vary by app and version.
Blocking and reporting do different jobs
- Block someone when your goal is to end or prevent interaction. Depending on the service, a block may remove a match, stop future contact, or use contact details to reduce the chance that you see each other.
- Report someone when a profile, message, or incident raises a safety or policy concern and should be reviewed by the app. A report may also remove the profile or conversation from your view.
- Unmatch or remove someone to end a connection, but do not assume this informs moderators. If the behavior concerns you, look for a report option before or after unmatching, or contact support if the option is no longer available.
Some apps put blocking and reporting in the same menu, but the actions are not interchangeable. Follow the labels shown in your current app version.

How do I report someone on Tinder?
Report a profile or match
- In Discovery, open the person’s profile, tap the three dots at the top right, and choose Report.
- For someone in your match list, open the chat, tap the three dots, and choose Report.
- Select the closest accurate reason and add relevant context. Tinder warns that false or malicious reports can harm others and may result in a ban.
Tinder says reports are confidential. The reported user may receive a generic notice that their account was reviewed, but Tinder says it does not disclose who filed the report or the report contents. See Tinder’s reporting instructions.
Block someone using contact details
Tinder’s separate Block Contacts feature is in Settings. You can sync device contacts or enter details manually. Tinder says blocked contacts are not notified, and this feature does not affect existing matches or messages. It may not work if the details you provide do not match those used for the person’s account. Consider the contact-sharing choice before syncing your address book; details are in Tinder’s Block Contacts guidance.

Report an incident that happened in person
Tinder documents an in-app report through the person’s profile or chat for in-person physical harm. If anyone is in immediate physical danger, contact local authorities right away rather than waiting for an app review. See Tinder’s in-person harm guidance.
How do I block or report someone on Bumble?
Block, with or without a conversation
- With a conversation: open it, tap the three dots at the top right, choose Block and Report, then choose a reason. Bumble says you can skip the report if you only want to block.
- Without a conversation: open the profile, tap the three dots, choose Block and Report, and confirm.
- On Bumble web: use the chat menu or the flag control under the profile photo.
Bumble says blocking removes the person from your match list, prevents future contact, is private, and cannot currently be undone. Follow Bumble’s blocking instructions and check the confirmation before proceeding.

Report a concern, including after an unmatch
You can report from a profile or conversation. Bumble Support describes reports as private and anonymous: “Your report is private and anonymous—the person won’t know you reported them.” Bumble says report progress can be tracked in the app’s Help Hub. If someone has unmatched and you can no longer access their profile or conversation, contact Bumble Support; include identifying details you have and screenshots if possible.
Bumble lists threats, harassment, explicit or unwanted sexual content, impersonation, scams or solicitation, discrimination, underage users, and offline safety concerns as reasons to report. Its guidance says you do not need to be certain a rule was broken to reach out. Ghosting can be reported as feedback, but Bumble says it is not itself a Community Guidelines violation. How do I report someone on Hinge?
Report a profile or match
- To report a profile, open it, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner, choose Report, and select a reason.
- To report a match, open Matches, select the profile, use the three-dot menu, and report.
Hinge describes reports as confidential and permanent. Reporting removes the profile; you will not see that person again, and they will not see you. For reports from Matches, Hinge says the reported person cannot view or retrieve the conversation or match. Read Hinge’s reporting instructions before submitting.
Can I report someone after they unmatch me?
Hinge’s Past Matches list is a limited test, so it is not available to every user. Where available, it can show qualifying connections unmatched within the previous 30 days if at least one message was exchanged and the other account is still active; the list includes a report action. Hinge says the report reason is confidential and the reported user is not notified. If the feature is unavailable, Hinge says you can still submit a report to its team. Use Hinge’s Block List to avoid someone you know
The separate Block List lets you sync contacts or enter a phone number or email address manually. Hinge says a mismatch between the information entered and the information used for the account may prevent the feature from stopping you from seeing each other. See Hinge’s Block List guidance.

- Decide whether you need a block, a report, or both. Use a block to stop contact; report conduct that raises a safety or policy concern. If a menu combines them, check whether the report can be skipped.
- Preserve relevant details first. A report may remove a profile, match, or conversation from view. If it is safe to do so, save relevant screenshots and note identifying information before submitting. Share only what is necessary.
- Choose the closest accurate reason. Describe what happened clearly and avoid speculation or exaggeration. Tinder warns that false or malicious reports can harm others and may result in a ban.
- If the person is gone from the app, check its recovery route. Hinge’s Past Matches option is limited; Bumble directs users who cannot access the profile or conversation to support. Provide available identifying details and screenshots where requested.
- For immediate physical danger, contact emergency services or local authorities first. Dating-app reports are for platform review, not emergency response.
