To filter common ad-network requests in ScreenshotAPI.net captures, add block_ads=true. To block requests to known tracking and analytics domains, add block_tracking=true. Both default to false; cookie-banner removal is a separate option, no_cookie_banners=true. These are documented controls, not a guarantee that every ad or tracker will be caught on every site.
Choose the request parameter for the content you want to remove
| Goal | Parameter | Documented behavior and default | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filter common ad-network requests | block_ads=true |
Blocks requests to common ad networks; default is false. |
ScreenshotAPI.net does not promise that every ad on every website will be removed. |
| Block requests to known tracking and analytics domains | block_tracking=true |
Blocks requests to known tracking domains and services; default is false. |
This is known-domain filtering, not a claim that all tracking methods are detected. Blocking a service may also affect rendered content. |
| Hide consent banners or popups | no_cookie_banners=true |
Blocks or hides cookie-consent banners and popups; default is false. |
This is separate from ad blocking. The Help page recommends using it with block_ads=true when both obstruct the image. |
| Block a specific unwanted endpoint, URL, path, or pattern | block_specific_requests |
Accepts one or more request rules. The documentation says entries may be separated by commas, spaces, or newlines. | You need to identify the request. The documentation does not promise a universal pattern-matching result. |
For ads plus a consent overlay, start with block_ads=true&no_cookie_banners=true. Add block_tracking=true if you also want the documented known-domain tracking filter. ScreenshotAPI.net’s resource-blocking documentation describes the available controls and their defaults; the Help page gives the recommended ads-and-banner combination.
Make the change in your screenshot request
Add the parameters to the request’s query string alongside its existing authentication, target URL, and output settings. Preserve your current endpoint and required parameters; the official Playground shows a v3 request shape using https://shot.screenshotapi.net/v3/screenshot, a token, a target URL, and output options.
For example, append block_ads=true&no_cookie_banners=true to the query string. To include known tracking-domain filtering, append &block_tracking=true as well. Keep the destination URL encoded according to your client or HTTP library, especially if it contains its own query string.

Use narrower controls when broad blocking breaks the page
Request filtering can change what the browser receives and therefore what appears in the screenshot. If the page loses useful content, avoid escalating immediately to broad resource blocking. Identify the specific request where possible and target it with block_specific_requests.
block_js=trueblocks JavaScript resources. It can remove interactivity and dynamic content.block_xhr=trueblocks XHR requests, whileblock_fetch=trueblocks Fetch requests. Either can prevent API-driven or dynamically loaded content from appearing.block_event_source=trueblocks EventSource/SSE connections, so real-time updates will not be reflected.
These options default to false. Use them only when missing scripts, network data, or live updates are acceptable for the capture. For a specific endpoint, block_specific_requests is the narrower documented choice.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
What the blocking controls do not establish
The documentation describes intended behavior and defaults; it does not establish independent test results, universal coverage, or the current exact contents of the filtering rules. Blocking requests to known tracking domains is not the same as proving that a page contains no tracking, and ad filtering is not a guarantee that every ad will disappear.
ScreenshotAPI.net’s homepage advertises “20,000+” ad-blocking rules and “75+” API parameters, but gives no year for those figures. They are vendor claims, not independently audited counts. See the ScreenshotAPI.net homepage for the claims.

Troubleshoot missing or unexpected content
- Ads remain visible: Confirm that
block_ads=trueis present in the actual request and consult the current resource-blocking documentation. The documented filter covers common ad networks, not every possible ad delivery method. - A consent overlay still obscures the page: Add
no_cookie_banners=trueseparately; ad blocking alone is not the documented cookie-banner control. - A page section is blank or incomplete: Check whether
block_tracking, a specific-request rule, or broad JavaScript/XHR/Fetch blocking is preventing a service the page needs to render that section. - Live data is absent: Check whether
block_event_source,block_xhr, orblock_fetchis enabled. Those options can suppress the page’s update or data requests. - The setting seems ignored: Verify spelling, boolean values, query encoding, and the endpoint against the current official documentation and Playground example. The documented parameter defaults are false, so a setting omitted from the request does not turn on filtering.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. For a one-call capture, send a GET request with your API key and target URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
