To become an admin on a Path of Titans server, add your numeric Alderon Games ID (AGID), not your in-game nickname. You can add it to Game.ini, assign it to a role in Commands.ini, or have an existing authorized administrator run /promote while the server is online. File edits require a server restart; in-game promotion does not.
What you need before changing anything
Admin status is attached to an Alderon Games ID. A nickname can change or be duplicated, while the AGID is the numeric account identifier used by the server configuration. Have the complete AGID available before editing a file or asking another administrator to promote you.

- AGID: the numeric identifier for the Alderon Games account you want to authorize.
- Server access: permission to stop, start and edit the server, or an existing administrator who can promote you in chat.
- A backup: download a copy of the original configuration file before changing it.
- A maintenance window: required for configuration-file methods because the server must restart.
Hosting panels may present these files through an editor rather than a normal file system. The underlying behavior is the same, but the panel may save or restart the server for you.

Choose the method that fits your access

These are separate mechanisms. Do not assume that a role entry in Commands.ini replaces a ServerAdmins= entry in Game.ini, or combine them without checking how your host and current game build load permissions.
Method 1: Add an admin in Game.ini
This is the most direct file-based method described by server guides. It places each administrator’s AGID in the game-session configuration.
1. Stop the server and make a backup
Stop the server from its control panel or service manager. Download the current Game.ini before editing it. A stopped server prevents it from overwriting your changes during a save or restart.

2. Locate Game.ini
Guides show different operating-system paths. A Linux installation is commonly shown as:

/Config/WindowsServer/Game.iniThe conflicting paths are a reason to inspect your own installation and the directory names exposed by your host. If you cannot find the file, use the panel’s configuration-file browser or ask the host which operating-system template it is using. Do not create a second Game.ini in a guessed directory.
3. Find the game-session section
Open the file as plain text and find this section header:

[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]One guide gives the administrator key as ServerAdmins=. If your existing file already contains an administrator section or similarly named key, preserve its spelling and formatting; the exact key should be verified against the file supplied by your host or current server build.
4. Add one line for each administrator
Put one AGID on each line beneath the section:

ServerAdmins=123-456-789The example AGIDs illustrate the format only. Replace them with the actual numeric IDs. Do not use a display name, a platform username or a nickname. If you want a reminder of whose ID a line represents, semicolons begin comments in the configuration format:
ServerAdmins=048-236-424 ; community owner
ServerAdmins=123-456-789 ; weekend moderatorKeep comments simple and do not put a second AGID on the same line. Each person should have a separate ServerAdmins= entry.
5. Save, start and test
- Save the file without changing its extension or section header.
- Upload it again if you edited a local copy.
- Start or restart the server.
- Join with the account whose AGID you added.
- Type
/helpin chat and check whether the expected administrative commands are listed.
A configuration edit that has not been followed by a restart will normally have no effect. If the server fails to start, stop it, restore the backup and compare the edited section for spelling, misplaced characters or an invalid path.
Removing a Game.ini administrator
Stop the server, delete that person’s entire ServerAdmins=AGID line, save the file and restart. Removing a nickname elsewhere does not revoke access if the AGID line remains.

Some server guides use a role-based system in Commands.ini. In this model, the AGID is mapped to a role and the role determines which commands the account can run.

Use the roles supplied by the file
A LOW.MS guide describes four roles shipped with the file: Owner, Admin, Moderator and Creator. The names and available permissions can vary with the game build or host template, so inspect the file before assigning one.
The assignment is placed under a [PlayerRoles] section:

048-236-424=ModeratorUse the exact role spelling defined by your file. According to the guide, these assignments are read at startup, so stop and restart the server after saving. If a panel offers a “reinstall,” “reset” or “restore default configuration” action, do not use it merely to reload the file; it may erase unrelated settings.

Create a custom role when the built-in roles are too broad
The role guide describes a section named for the role, followed by one permission line for each allowed command:

+Permission=announceThen map an AGID to that role under [PlayerRoles]:

048-236-424=EventModeratorOnly use permission names that your current Commands.ini and server build recognize. The documented example states that +Permission=restart is required for /restart. A permission label that looks obvious may not be valid, and a command can remain unavailable until the account is assigned to the role and the server is restarted.
Do not mix role and administrator-list assumptions
Game.ini and Commands.ini describe different authorization paths. If a role assignment appears in the file but commands still return a permission error, check that the section is spelled exactly, the AGID is correct and the server was restarted. If your host supplies a preconfigured role file, preserve its existing section order and syntax instead of copying examples from another host.

Method 3: Promote an account while the server is running
In-game promotion avoids a restart, but it is available only to an account that already has the promote permission.

- Join the server with an account that already has permission to promote players.
- Open chat and enter
/promote <user> <adminrole>. - Replace
<user>with the server’s accepted player identifier and<adminrole>with the role you intend to grant. - Have the newly promoted player run
/helpto see the commands available to that account.
For example, the command shape is:
/promote playerName ModeratorThe exact user argument and role names accepted by your build should be confirmed with the server’s help output. A successful command should change permissions on the running server; it does not require editing Game.ini or Commands.ini.
Demote a player
To remove administrative roles in-game, use:
/demote <user>The guide describes /demote as removing all admin roles from that user. It is broader than removing one permission, so use it when you intend to clear the account’s administrative roles rather than temporarily disable a single command.
What to do when promotion fails
- If the server reports a permission error, the promoting account does not have the promote permission or the command name is unavailable in this build.
- If the role is rejected, check its spelling and use
/helpto inspect commands available to the promoting account. - If the player cannot be identified, use the identifier format expected by the current server version rather than guessing from a nickname.
- If changes disappear after a restart, the running promotion may not have been persisted in the configuration file; use the appropriate file-based method if the account must remain an admin.
How to find the correct AGID
The value you need is the numeric Alderon Games ID, usually written as groups of digits separated by hyphens. The server guides attribute AGID lookup to account settings on the Alderon Games site and to “My Settings” in the Alderon Games Launcher. Interface labels can change, so verify the current location in the official account or launcher interface before relying on an ID.
After copying the value, compare it character by character. Common mistakes include copying a display name, omitting a digit, replacing hyphens with spaces or using the AGID of a different account. If an administrator promotes you in-game, ask them to verify the account they selected before assigning a powerful role.

Guides list the following commands, but command availability and permission names are version-dependent. Enter /help on the live server to see what your account can actually use.

Do not grant a role solely because its name sounds appropriate. A role with restart, ban or god-mode permissions can affect every player and the server’s availability. Start with the smallest permission set that meets the job.
Troubleshooting checklist
The account is still treated as a normal player
- Confirm that the entry contains the AGID, not the nickname.
- Check every digit and hyphen against the account identifier.
- Verify the section header and key spelling.
- Confirm that the edited file belongs to the server instance you actually start.
- Restart the server after a
Game.iniorCommands.inichange. - Run
/helpafter joining and compare the available commands.
The file change vanishes
Download the file again after restarting and check whether the panel restored a template. Some panels expose separate files for Linux and Windows server profiles. Editing one profile while launching another produces no visible effect. Keep your backup and ask the host which file is authoritative for the running instance.
The server will not start after editing
- Stop the service.
- Restore the backup you made before editing.
- Start the server to confirm that the original configuration works.
- Reapply only one change at a time, preserving the original section header and line format.
Do not troubleshoot by deleting unrelated configuration sections. An administrator entry should not require a wholesale reset.

A command is listed but returns a permission error
Commands are permission-gated. In a role configuration, the role must include the matching permission name; the guide’s example uses +Permission=restart for /restart. The account must also be mapped to that role, and the server must have loaded the file after a restart. Because command lists change between versions, treat the live /help output as the first check.
Security and maintenance practices
- Give the Owner-level role only to people who need complete control.
- Use a narrower custom role for moderators who only need announcements, player removal or routine support.
- Keep AGIDs and configuration backups private; they identify accounts and can reveal your server’s administrative structure.
- Record which AGID belongs to each staff member in a private administrator log, while leaving only short semicolon comments in the file if comments are useful.
- Review the administrator list when staff leave. Remove the corresponding line or use
/demote, depending on how the access was granted. - Test a new role with a secondary account or a trusted moderator before using it during a public event.
- After a game update, run
/helpand review role permissions; command names and permission labels are version-dependent.
Why paths and commands can differ
The available guides are third-party hosting and community instructions rather than an official Alderon Games administrator specification. One guide’s Game.ini path uses LinuxServer, while another uses WindowsServer; role names, permission labels and command syntax can also change. A G-Portal wiki result was indexed as roughly 1,028 days old, so older instructions may not match the current game build.
Use the examples as a map to the relevant configuration sections, then verify the actual file supplied by your host and the commands exposed by /help. When a current file disagrees with an online example, preserve the current file’s established syntax and test on a controlled server before applying the change to a live community.
